Led the Falcons at a very young age, and hugely rated by the TAC heirachy, K. He's had a few setbacks with us (the NZ thing and the DUI) but leads by example now. Up to him I think, if he wants the leadership headline, but he's developing very rapidly and he's willing to work on his game and himself. A real credit.SainterK wrote:Yep will be our poster boy, boyish charm and great work ethic.matrix wrote:glad u had fun K

Glad they locked him away.
Captaincy though, not convinced...bit young by nature, not in a bad way, but more the little brother figure.
Yes TC looked comfy up there brat.
I was with my dad and he pushed me to be brave tonight, got heaps of pics...even spoke to Geary and got photos with him, Sean, Len and heaps others. Love this sponsorship opportunity

Can't just be happy for Jack, instead have your eye on bashing posters?
Firstly Joey was pick 37
Secondly.... No one can accurately determine a late blooming Roughie??
Swan was pick 58, Lake 71, Fisher 55 and check out the position of Goodes, Chapman, Pearce, Barlow, Mayne, Sandilnands,Schnieder, Priddis, Grant.... And a hundred other past selection 50 stars
What is annoying is overlooking blue chip guns with early picks? With obvious examples
One would be Jack Trengove at Port
Btw
In the same draft we took Ben McEvoy (good selection) but next selection was Patrick Dangerfield, two after that Cyril Rioli, then Brad Ebert Callan Ward and Scott Selwood came a bit after???
Steven was a great selection..... In the 40's and I reckon taking the best bottom ager with 3rd round selection is a great idea...

In drafts you select players IMO not positions
If we needed a Ruckman ATT not sure an 18 yo makes too much difference? You're never guaranteed success with any selection... So the only thing you can do, is select the best players that have the best opportunity.... I bet any person would jump at Danger if time was on again...
But this post is about Jack.... He was a smart selection (as was Geary, which gets missed) and had a terrific season. Contested ball and clearances are very important.... As is run and carry!

Is he now better than an average player as you described him only 8 weeks ago? Of course he is and he also was then. i have now seen 3 papers mention the word elite about jack and whilst I havent said that yet and neither have many others I think we can all say without a hint of overrating him that he has had an elite season. Probably the biggest winning margin from a B&F winner for many many years.
And I agree that the first pick if low enough should be the best player available in the draft. we get many wrong as does every single club in the AFL. We have got a lot more wrong over the last few years because we havent had high picks like most other clubs. This year is the first real test in years. Hopefully we get it right.

So who rucks then? Your argument is ridiculous to suggest you just ignore needs.

Terrific night.
The tributes to the three retirees was the highlight.
I can't wait to get some time to read my copy of the "Strength through Loyalty - 140 years" hardback edition I stole from my table.

Doesn't matter Curly, we didn't get Dangerfield, Rioli, Ebert, Ward, or Selwood, so the club is bad.CURLY wrote:BigMart wrote:JB

And apparently Joey was late blooming. Funny I saw his debut match at Geelong in 2003. Wasn't too late blooming one would think.
Lance or James??

What a good idea! I should have got mine signed. Was such a good night, I've been to the last 3 or 4 B&F's and this was probably my favorite. The tributes to the retirees were fantastic, Milney getting everyone in the room to stand up and sing the song got me a bit teary but it was awesome to hear and watch everyone. They showed highlights from Schneiderman which was a good laugh, and the speeches were good too I thought. My uncle (the new pres) did his first speech so we were all there with the cameras haha was funny to see him up there.HelenR wrote:Enrico_Misso wrote:Terrific night.

By the way, did anyone notice when Nettlefold was talking about the players calling anyone who emailed or called to complain to the club this week or voice their disappointment...that he specifically mentioned calling a supporter from the United States who was too upset to talk?? I was like 'hmm...I wonder...'

1. Jack

5. Geary.
I think I'm nearest the post as I was the only one to predict Daylight at 4th and Geary at 5th.

I took it that Nettlefold rang the US Member himself but the person did not take his call.

Joey was a late bloomer. That was his 13th game and he got 7 possessions. I don't know what you thought you were seeing.joffaboy wrote:

He didn't get a regular game until his 5th season.
