It was the most emotional I've been at a game since BJ took that mark and kicked that goal.
Days like these remind us why we love the Saints.

It was fantastic seeing all the red, white and black in the crowd, flags and floggers everywhere. Certainly Freo seemed inimidated by it a bit, went into our shells and we were able to rag doll them for the entire game. Great stuff, took me back to Moorabbin in the eighties. We may have had an awful year, but we still have our heroes, and we love it when the team are on song.

Re: What a great day
The only slight critisism on a wonderful, emotional, joyful day for players, admin and supporters was.....
The Umpires..
All in all they were not a problem but the decision to go by the book and review Kosi's goal just shows the lack of feel for the occasion and the game that some of these over officias fools have.
Really!!!! The kick didn't affect the outcome of the game (we were about 9 goals in front) or the position of either clubs (Freo locked in 3rd, us lock in 3rd last).
He couldn't let the emotion flow, he couldn't just say, stuff it, we will let that through to the keeper. There was true emotion where I was sitting, something I had not witnessed in a Saints crowd for at leat the GF's, but this idiot over officiating by a d**khead umpire just stamped all over the occasion.
Really gave me the tom tits.

St Kilda forever ( God help me)
Re: What a great day
I thought it was terrific that after having a couple of failed shots, Kosi didn't hesitate to pass it across and give Blake his turn.

Re: What a great day
A final bizarre Kosi/Saints moment almost seemed fitting.
I was more sorry he didn't take that mark right in front of goal when he first came on... the roar in anticipation was electrifying.
But so happy for Blake.

Re: What a great day
Absolutely amazing day, the perfect way to send off three great clubmen. Despite there only being 22.5K, the atmosphere was one of the best I've ever experienced for a Saints game. The Kosi score review was a bit of a bummer, but it takes nothing away from the celebration from the crowd and the players when he took that shot. The game is certainly up there with one of my favourite memories as a Saints supporter.

Re: What a great day
The game has extraordinary similarities to one of my all time favourites the final Rocky 'Rocky Balboa', especially the final 15 minutes of each. It kind of felt like that, this time delivered in a real life instance

Re: What a great day
Don't want to rain on anyone's parade but…
I had a good day and think the club did a great job, but the win felt a little shallow to me… considering the team that Freo put up and the numbers accumulated by our guys…
I went home happy, but compared to any final win or beating a legitimate flag contender, this was like a hallmark movie for me.
Anyway, I guess you can only play who they put out on the park… it would have felt even a little better if Geelong had lost and Freo had thrown away a home final.
Well handled and a beautiful day… I just miss playing in the finals.

Re: What a great day
Just watched the replay and none of the magic was lost. Definitely, regardless of the team Freo fielded, one of the best wins I've ever been to. The prelim final wins were great but they were followed by such intense disappointment in the weeks that followed. This was just pure joy. Couldn't have asked for a better send-off into the Summer!
Re: What a great day
Great day, just what the club needed after a crappy season.
Brilliant atmosphere all day, well done Saints supporters. We and the players deserve to feel good about our club!
Mixed emotions I'm sure for Goddard, I think he underestimated his love for our club. Ah well.

Yep, a really great day - a fun day! I am glad that Freo only played 1/2 a team. The points didn't matter.
Also, a great photo that Stinger posted. Good to see BJ there for the boys.
