I was/am all for keeping Jones but if he keeps a spot ahead of Ledger or Dunell I would prefer to see him go.
Re: The official unofficial delistings thread
should we rookie him though, to free up spots on the senior list?saint6709 wrote:Lever - just turned 20 - he stays IMO

Re: The official unofficial delistings thread
Good idea. Possibly a solution for the Saad situation as well ?defacto wrote:should we rookie him though, to free up spots on the senior list?saint6709 wrote:Lever - just turned 20 - he stays IMO
Dunnell I reckon will get the chop, and im guessing Shents as well. Even though on form Staley and Lever should go before Shents I just reckon their height and our lack of defensive talls buys them both another year.
With the retirements that would then open up 5 spots on the senior list. First 3 draft picks in the top 40. then just a matter of whether we can snag a FA or trade deal.
I dont know why but I just think this year clubs will do some very strange trades with over the odds being paid by numerous clubs desperate for a quick fix.

Re: The official unofficial delistings thread
as we dont have much depth in the back line...i cant see any of those guys going as its been a tough year with most being injure at some stage and as we have heaps of small forward type players thats where the cuts will be made is my guess.
Re: The official unofficial delistings thread
Not many clubs seriously "rebuilding" at the moment, which is great. Really just us and Melbourne focusing seriously on bringing in lots of young talent, most other clubs are either contending or think they could be in a year or two - the 15th placed team had 8 wins whereas last year the 14th placed team only had 5.5!Zed wrote:I dont know why but I just think this year clubs will do some very strange trades with over the odds being paid by numerous clubs desperate for a quick fix.
So there could be a lot of clubs looking for experienced guys in their prime. If we decide to go down the route of trading older guys, we could really bolster our draft position...

Fisher and dal could be trade bait.
Ferg gone
Shents probably
Staley probably
Saad probably
So only one from the main list. fair enough. Gives us 3 picks if we upgrade Currun.

Rather ledger stay on. Would take him over Siposs.
Would like both to be given next year though.

Re: The official unofficial delistings thread
Ledger is worth more than a de-list. Its keep or trade. At least worth a draft pick upgrade ( I.e. our fourth for someone's third ). Probably the same for Dunell.
There may be a chance for Lever on the rookie list, but no chance he stays on the main list.
Surely TDL is a delist.
Saad will be out or rookie list.
That's 6 off the senior list.
Curren and Minch will take 2.
That leaves four.
I don't believe we have anyone else worth delisting for a fourth round or worse pick.
So any others to go will be part of a trade.
Its a pity Ferg didn't have a better year. He was a long term prospect, and was looking good in 2012 , but seemed to go backwards this year.
Staley showed a bit as well.

Dal is one of the best ball users in the AFL - surly having him in list helps with training , coaching, showing kids how the elite users play the game - I think dal will be playing for saints next year

Re: The official unofficial delistings thread
The Saad situation is tricky.
He has not officially been sanctioned, and is contracted for a further year. I think our response in regards to his position on the list varies greatly depending on the final sanction. 2 years and he is gone, but 6 months and he is worth keeping IMO.
If his charge and penalty is finalised by the list lodgement dates, his future will be a lot clearer. But if it lingers on beyond trade and draft time, we could find ourselves stuck with a guy taking up a spot on our list who is ineligible for 2 years.

Re: The official unofficial delistings thread
Retire
Blake
Kosi
Milne
Delist
Saad
Lever (re-draft as rookie)
Dunnell
Upgrade
Curren
Jones, Ledger and TDL very lucky and if we need the room because of trades then Jones, TDL then Ledger in that order.
Rookies
Delist
Shenton
Ferguson
Retain
Minchington
Staley
Lever (TBC)
If we trade for or pick up Dustin Martin or any other player then that leaves 4 picks in the ND.
Should be about right.

If they offered their first round draft pick how could we say no????
Re: The official unofficial delistings thread
Trades out of the team should look after themselves. Unless we trade a single player for multiple draft picks.
But if we trade a player for a draft pick, that opens up its own spot.
If we trade a player for a draft pick upgrade its one less that needs to be delisted.

spot on wrote:Retire- kosi , Milne , Blakey
Delist- lever, Dennis lane, saad ( most likely gone)
Rookie delist- staley , ferguson
Rookie up grade- curren
Rookie retain - shenton, minchington
So that's that's leave us 5 national picks/ preseason and 3 rookie picks
I think we will offload 1 other older player to maybe get another early pick or pick up a key defender from somewhere
I do hope they realise they made a mistake with ledger and give Hume another year, is only 21 as well
this is what i'd like to see

I've already said lever, Simpkin, Siposs, Saad, Dunell and Stanley are in danger in other threads. I would think that TDL is not going if he's contracted and he wasn't as bad as people made out.
Personally i would have tried to get Lenny in to a coaching role in the club as I'm worried his body might not hold up. I would have also looked at trading out Ray and delisting maister.

I wondered I the Drug Cheats would want Dunell for a 3rd or 4th rounder.

At any rate, if they are keen, then I'd hold onto him just because. No dealing with cheats.

Dunnel isnt worth a pick at all. He will be kept or delisted.
Re: The official unofficial delistings thread
In the old days that would be true, but these days any player can be traded with a swap of picks. We might trade Dunell and our fourth rounder (50-odd) for Essendon's third rounder (40-odd). Everyone wins: Essendon get a known quantity, we get rid of a guy who doesn't fit our needs, their pick is not much worse, ours is slightly improved.plugger66 wrote:Dunnel isnt worth a pick at all.
TDL was only slightly more well-credentialed when he was traded last year.
