The official unofficial delistings thread

Post: # 1382917Post plugger66 »

Alright the season is done and dusted and the club must move players on whether some on here like it or not so lets put our thoughts on here as to who wont be at our club next season. Everyone must make the hard decisions the club have to make so for example if you think TDL should go but are unsure if he is contracted then he still goes like Winmar did previously. However a guy like maister isnt going to go as they wouldnt re sign him and then delistt him 5 weeks later.

I feel it would be a blunder to delist Ledger and also see something in Dunnel. We have to delist three. Who are the others under scrutinty do you think?

We have already delisted 3 so we dont have to delist anyone else but we will.

It is possible that a deal has been done with a W.A. club re Ledger. If not, I would not let him go unless we did well in the deal.

I reckon we want four or five draft picks and two or three rookie draft picks.

Retired

Blake
Koschitzke
Milne

Delisted

Dennis-Lane or Dunell
Lever
Saad

Rookies Upgraded

Curren

Rookies Delisted

Shenton
Staley

That equals six off the main list and one on, which is five draft picks. Three off the rookie list which is three rookie draft picks. If we're going to trade then I'd expect them to be looking at one of Dal Santo, Dunell, Gilbert, Gwilt, Jones, Milera, Ray, Simpkin or Stanley. But none of them except Dal and Gilbo have any value, so I'd be surprised if much happened on that front.

3 retired

Dunnell, Lever, Ledger (unfortunately

Rookies
Ferg, Staley - gonski

Still think McEvoy is on the table if it's for a high (top 20) draft pick.

Dal - keep

I've never seen a bad St.Kilda player - that's just how they are.

TDL is likely to be contracted still. I would trade Mc Evoy and I think Siposs could be in a bit in a little trouble.
Fisher and dal could be trade bait.
Ferg gone
Shents probably
Staley probably
Saad probably

This won't be popular but...

I would still be retiring CJ, he's had a good year but I think we need to move on... Watching him yesterday, so many of his disposals would be classed as "effective" & "efficient" but put his teammate under enormous pressure.

Ledger may not become a good AFL footballer, but we potentially have lot more to gain from keeping him rather than getting 1 or 2 more years from CJ.

I have CJ in the Peake/Clarke/Polo category, guys that offer more than inexperienced 20 year olds.... but in a rebuilding phase, just aren't quite good enough to warrant sacrificing game time in the next generation.

We certainly need to be adding more than 3 new players next year... 4 or 5 kids & at least 1 or 2 mature players, probably should add 2 FB's considering we don't have any genuine ones.

Outs
Milne, Blake, Kosi, Lever, TDL, CJ, Saad??? Maybe a trade out... Ledger, Dal, Ray...

interstingly Scott for the first time downsized the number to be turned over to 5-8-
yet just a couple of weeks ago Pelchen suggested 8-10

- they appear to work cl;osely together so doubt Scott would give those numbers without them having been part of the discussion
3 retirees
Saad

+ 3-4 others.

DELIST ALL THE PLAYERS!!!!!!!!!!

seriously why clean out the rookie list so quickly. who are you going to replace them with???? keep shenton and staley on for one more year. upgrade curren. 50/50 on ferg but he has to be upgraded or delisted anyway.

that gives you 1 free rookie spot and 1 free international/nsw scholarship spot

Retire- kosi , Milne , Blakey
Delist- lever, Dennis lane, saad ( most likely gone)
Rookie delist- staley , ferguson
Rookie up grade- curren
Rookie retain - shenton, minchington

So that's that's leave us 5 national picks/ preseason and 3 rookie picks
I think we will offload 1 other older player to maybe get another early pick or pick up a key defender from somewhere
I do hope they realise they made a mistake with ledger and give Hume another year, is only 21 as well

Minchington must be a sneaky chance of being upgraded with Milne retired and Saad suspended. In any case I think he will be retained in some capacity.

the other comment I found interesting from Scott was during the post match presser where he indicated that there has been development for defence from within..

Gold Coast are willing to move heaven and earth for a running half back, Gilbert comes to mind. Personally i think hes playing his best footy right now, would hate to trade him out, we need all the quality backman we can get.
