What a great day
Must admit,I have been one of the guilty one's who has lost there passion each Saturday for the saints the last year or two...since GF2 basically.
I have found it hard to find any enjoyment, but wasn't going to miss today. Thought it was great, one of the better saints days I can remember for a long long time.
Found myself getting very emotional at the end, brought back memories of how close the older guys got, how so so close. These three have been great stalwarts through that era, and it felt like the end of another chapter today(until Lenny and co go next year)

Bring back the Lockett era

Ditto, that was a special day at the footy. Great to take the young fella along and share in the joy of the great mates who have served our club so well for so long. Some of the footy wasn't bad either.

The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

Unfortunately couldn't go due to most of our house sick, but agree re day games. I miss them. More than 4 in two years would be fair.Wayne42 wrote:Agree

Re: What a great day
I've seen about 800 StK games and that was one of the best.
Very emotional.
Spent more time on my feet applauding than any game since the old standing days of The Animal Pit.
Very proud of the fans that turned out today - really got behind the boys.
Just a shame those boys retired without getting the reward they deserved.

Re: What a great day
It was a great day, had a tinge of the Farewell to Moorabbin match.
The last 15 mins of the last quarter was all about our club.
The players looked relaxed as they thought to hell with it and let's make this all about our three retires.
Lots of group hugs after each goal and Kosi, Milne and Blakey waving to the crowd and soaking up the atmosphere.
Scott just grinned as he looked down from the coaches's box.
So at the end of a disappointing season, I think it ended on a really positive note.
Thanks to Mick Nettlefold and the club for organising a great day.
And as we used to say at Moorabbin "See you next year"

1 My boys first game... He had a blast
2 bloody great weather roof open
3 Very emotional but enjoyable win... (just about lost my voice from all the screaming)
4 scored two free tickets in the Level 1 reserves, just behind the benches.
5 Blakes Goal how fitting.
While i am still a little sad to see Miline and Blake go (think they both have 1 more left) it was a great win and the boys just ripped Freo a new one. Thought everyone had a good game and don't care if some did not. was a top team effort and was so nice to be there for the the trios last game.
I was a big part in the Kosi chants incase any members where around me. (screaming at the umps for that bloody score review)
Top stuff saints... liking what we have shown in the last two games.
Well done supporters for all getting to the game was great to see how many came and the level of support being shown...
GO SAINTS 2014!

Re: What a great day
I didn't think about that before - but having the roof open was like going to a REAL game.
And it was played in DAYLIGHT.
On a SATURDAY AFTERNOON.
Jeez I miss that!

Re: What a great day
Great game. Great day. Really showed how strong our club culture is, especially in that last 15 minutes of play. Seeing the whole team celebrating together after one of our champions kicked a goal replaced all the negativity I have had over the club for some time. I had a smile on my face the whole time. I shed a bit of a tear at the end of the game. Today reinforces that even through all the tough times, I wouldn't have it any other way then St. Kilda. Fortious Quo Fidelius.

Re: What a great day
I shed a few tears.
That goal - Kosi - Milney - Joey - Boom!
Knowing we will never see that again.
And J Blake.
But great day for the club overall. Finally a feel good story. Terrific for morale over summer and to get us through a long year next year!
Well done to all.

Re: What a great day
Fantastic day, could not have been scripted better (apart from Kosi disallowed goal)
Ladder position and opposition was meaningless, just a great day full of Saints spirit
Flogged them all day with all the champs bobbing up at times
Almost cried twice (Kosi really got to me), easily one of my most fun and most memorable days at the footy, thanks Saints

Re: What a great day
It was an amazing day. Sun poring in to the stadium, so much love for the 3 retirees and then the team played so well - pressure, confidence and determination. So much fun everytime Blake, Kosi and Milney touched it - crowd went wild.
Re: What a great day
watching from perth. fighting back tears all game. was a celebrative hollow feeling. very unusual.

Re: What a great day
Agree with all th above. A great day to send off three great champions in style. Despite all the adverse comments I appreciated Lyon's gestures at the end of the game0.

Emotional at times, but overall was a very enjoyable day. Loved the party atmosphere and the great send off. One of those days where things just went to plan. They don't happen like that very often. Gives us something to remember over the summer

Re: What a great day
Crowd of almost 23,000 was a bit under what I was expecting, due to there only being a couple of hundred Freo barrackers and no neutrals, but there was certainly a presence there yesterday. It was fantastic seeing all the red, white and black in the crowd, flags and floggers everywhere. Certainly Freo seemed inimidated by it a bit, went into our shells and we were able to rag doll them for the entire game. Great stuff, took me back to Moorabbin in the eighties. We may have had an awful year, but we still have our heroes, and we love it when the team are on song.
