Re: Round 23 Team v Dockers
Very tall Saints side! How do we fit Riewoldt, Koschitzke, McEvoy, Hickey and Lee all into the same team? Don't want too many of them sitting on the bench because that kills your rotations, so that's either a four-tall forward line or one of them is the sub. Both of those possibilities are a little worrying.
On the other hand, Freo look like they've gone pretty short in defence. Sandilands 211cm and Hannath 201 changing in the ruck, Taberner 197 and Pavlich 192 in the forward line, but only Faulks 194 and Silvagni 192 in defence. Their third tall defenders are less than 190. No Dawson or Johnson.
I reckon late change Lee out for Saunders could happen? Not sure why they'd bring him in just to change him out again but there is a mismatch. I'm worried we'll try to stretch them with lots of talls and then get run off our feet by their inexperienced midfield.

Surprised they brought Lee in when Kosi is in. Perhaps they think Kosi isn't fit enough to play out more than a half?
And Kosi is a must!

AND WON
And then, having strung together 19 straight, we proceeded to lose the next 2.
Would we be prepared to give up this win if it meant the Dockers went out in straight sets? Perhaps not.
But if they were to beat us and ruin our day of celebrations, a nice little Freo self destruction would make an awesome consolation prize.

Yes it was rd19 doc, then he famously settled the side and said rd 1 of the finals was purely rd 23

The Shockers may have to play their Qually at Kardinia Park. Let's hope so and get their backsides disinfected by the Cats

Put it this way. Mc. Evoy would beat him by 30 m in a 100 m sprint. Enough said !!magnifisaint wrote:With ease or proppytony74 wrote:Kosi got through this morning.

Re: Round 23 Team v Dockers
While I understand Freo's choice to rest players, it is sort of sad in a way because it gives a better chance of victory.
While it would be great to win for our retiring champions, it will be sort of hollow. I think you all get my drift.
It would have been awesome if Freo were playing for a home final and had to pick a stronger team. Then the chances of their finals been derailed would've been greater and more enjoyable.
While I couldn't give a f*** about any of the finals or who wins it all - the season ends for me at the final siren of our game - Freo and/or Shitney going out in straight sets would sit nicely with me. I don't have anything personal against Ross Lyon - I just hate Freo.

Can Kosi still run/walk/crawl 100m is the big question?tony74 wrote:Put it this way. Mc. Evoy would beat him by 30 m in a 100 m sprint. Enough said !!magnifisaint wrote:With ease or proppytony74 wrote:Kosi got through this morning.
Anyway, as long as the big fella has fun today and is in fine form at whatever watering hole they end up all is good.

don't think they'll be asking too much of him. not in the ruck anyway. just plonk him in the goal square and kick it long.

Kosi is the sub.

Two more Freo players out, Chris Mayne and Garrick Ibbotson. Beware the Round 19 2009 syndrome. Other than that, we should win.

Re: Round 23 Team v Dockers
Is Ross in celebration mode for us too? Is this his sending them off with a win in their last game? He might leave the goal square empty with just kosi on his own.
