Milney, What can we say but "thank-you for the memories". The game has not seen anyone like you and I don't think we ever will. You are the best small forward in the history of the Saints and the AFL. The other supporters loved to hate you because you are so good.

Re: Leave your tributes here for Milney - to be printed
There has never and will never again be another #44 in the competition who has brought so much excitement, tenacity and awesome skill to our game.
Whilst we'll always share the nightmare of The Bounce, it was in the safest possible hands. if you couldn't, no one could.
Milney, you will be remembered as a human highlight reel but, above all else, you have been a magnificent servant of our club. You're a true St Kilda champion, and both you and your family should be very proud.
We all are. Thank you.

Re: Leave your tributes here for Milney - to be printed
What can I say - a HUGE part of why I support St Kilda, and a HUGE part of why I became devoted to the cause!
I had a lovely chat with Milney back in the day about American sports, him and Nick Riewoldt, and thus adopted them both as favourites
Then of course, as we all know collectively, as the abuse piled on our little champion particuarly, I became more and more passionate in his defence
But such self indulgence is a small part of the story, for though we remember players for their personal connections with us, and what they mean to us, it's bigger than that - the goals, the magic, the sticking it up everyone, they are things we all share. My personal favourite memory is the 11 against the Lions that comprehensively ended their era. Walking out of the dome that night 100% convinced Milne and co would see us home for a Premiership...
Nights like that live on. So thankyou my little champion! The jumper is being retired - well, a series of jumpers have come and gone. One is in my home town bar back in Gretna, and another might just stay in the cupboard, for old times sake!
Thanks my man

You can listen to Bristle tell you Carlton are still a massive chance at 28 points down with two minutes to go, you can listen to him tell you all about Lorne, or you can watch a monkey on a pushbike...I know which I prefer...

Thank you Milney for the many years of excitement I've been privileged enough to witness. You've such a unique player, and one that has kicked some of the best goals I've ever seen in Australian Rules Football.

Re: Leave your tributes here for Milney - to be printed
Congratulations and thank you for your service to the great club that is St Kilda.
You will go down as one the best small forwards the game has ever seen, with your freakish ability to find the goals and ignite the team.
You have been one of the hearts of the STKFC in the worst of times (the early 2000's) and the best of time (late 2000's).
Your contribution to the club we love will never be forgotten.
Your #44 will always remind us of that little igniter who was a champion.

Dear Stephen, all I can say is thank you for the years of enjoyment you have given us over the years.
Thank you for your dedication to the team and your team spirit.
Thank you for your humour with Bakes on those dare videos you did all those years ago.
Thank you for your passion, your skill, and those dozens of magic moments that can only have one screaming out "MILNEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!".
May your future be as bright as it can be.
I know we'll see your face in the crowd the next time we play off for the big one and should we win, your tears of joy will be no less than if we had pulled it off in one of those two years.
Enjoy retirement, enjoy your future endeavours, and remember the father son rule
All the best.

Milnee, what can be said that has'nt been said. The greatest small forward of the modern game and another who wears his heart on his sleeve. A big loss for both St KIlda and the AFL. Wishing you the best of luck for the future and hope things turn out well for you and your loved ones. Your skills and love of the club will be sorely missed. WELL DONE MILNEY.

Re: Leave your tributes here for Milney - to be printed
The regularity in which Milney kept scoring was a delight to witness. I've no doubt his presence only made it harder for opposition defences to try and combat the fast leading Rooey as well as keep a constant eye on the unpredictable Milney. I loved this forward combination. Too many Milney highlights to single out some.
GOOD LUCK STEPHEN!

When we asked our 8 year old daughter which number she wanted on her first Saints jumper, it was #44. She's 13 now and you are still her favourite player. And no wonder why!Go well Milney and all the best for the future ( and another year wouldn't have hurt!)
Re: Leave your tributes here for Milney - to be printed
Milney, I have loved watching you play and my kids all think you are the best. You add excitement to every game you have played in and it has been an absolute privilege to have you in our team. Every family day, training session, you have been courteous, respectful and terrific with the kids.
Thankyou and good luck. We will miss you.

Milney,
Thank you for your passion for the club and the game.
You will finish your career as not only a player who had freakish goal sense, but someone also matured into a genuine leader at our club.
All the very best for the future.

Re: Leave your tributes here for Milney - to be printed
Milney
have just LOVED watching you play.
You are THE excitement machine.
Your highlights tape is so long it needs an intermission!
So quick, so elusive, so many tricks, such footwork, such a smartarse, such a STAR!
The goals. The goals. The goals.
So many, the 4th highest for this club, so accurate, so skilful.
Snaps on the run, snaps from the mark, set shots, tight angles, bouncing leg breaks, bouncing off breaks.
You could make that ball talk.
There are plenty of others trying to copy you - that's flattery.
But none are as good as the original.
Your exuberance was infectious.
You copped a lot of criticism, even from one of your coaches, but your record speaks for itself.
Averaging well over 2 goals a game you are the greatest small forward of all time.
One remarkable thing about your career was your durability. Despite being targeted by bigger opponents you are 6th on our games played list.
Another remarkable thing is the fact that you got better as you got older.
You also demonstrated you were more than just a goal sneak and could play great footy in the midfield.
You also mark well for a small man, use your body cleverly, and provided excellent defensive pressure.
Most importantly you are the Heart and Soul of this footy club.
I've had the privilege of meeting you a few times and despite your superstardom you are friendly decent person with a fantastic sense of humour.
The footy just won't be the same without you.
Enjoy a fantastic retirement.
Hope you can stay involved in some capacity and pass on some of your bag of tricks.
Thanks for the great memories that will stay with me forever

Great career, Milney.
Absolute champion, don't be lost to the club.

Dear Tiprat
Congratulations on a remarkable career as one of the best small forwards the game has seen. All the best with the ongoing dramas and, whatever the future brings, you will be okay because you are a born survivor.

Milney,
Thank you for loving our jumper, our club, as passionately as we the fans love it.
Thank you for contributing to it more than we ever could.
Thank you for sharing your enjoyment of the game with us, and in turn, providing so much enjoyment.
Thank you for your courage. Our hearts swelled with pride as your injured cheekbone swelled, yet still you played on, unstoppable.
Many young men make it to the AFL, some for a short time, some for longer. Not so many leave a legacy that last generations.
Thank you. Be proud that you have left a great legacy.

Re: Leave your tributes here for Milney - to be printed
Thanks for the memories Milney. Our family will never forget your efforts for the Mighty Saints. My middle daughter chose your number for her jumper and has always worn it proudly. We have cheered as you kicked goal after goal and celebrated the way you did. The way you sang the team song has always made us smile. Good luck with the rest of your life and thanks again for the memories.
