Too many- one of my all time favourites. He started from an Essendon rookie to become a tiny full forward then as lead up marking type and then the forward pocket specialist. Not enough credit is given to the fact that he was so adaptable through several eras. So sad that it's all going to be over.

Too many memories to single out a few. Other than to say his single biggest highlight to me is his ability to get electricity pumping through my nervous system every time he gets his hands on the ball in our forward line. An electrifying player; only Baldock, Winmar and, perhaps, Allan Davis have shown that quality but not for the years Milney has.

My wife and I came over for that Brisbane game - it was a terrific night as the little maestro kept on drilling them through. I was always remember him also for that damn fickle bounce in the drawn grand final, most of all I will remember him for being the heartbeat of our team for so many years. A wonderful career.

Just what i was thinking of....

And one of the goals was one of his trademark dribble specials from the boundary line.... I remember watching it at the game, thinking why the hell is he doing something so outrageous from the boundary, yet seemingly magically the ball dribbled and took a leg-break straight into the goals. Brilliant!

Yep. Me too. Ppl forget the significance of that game. NO-ONE gave us a chance. During the week Milne was criticised for his lack of big game impact and MCG impact. Was bloody exciting to watch Milney explode in that 3rd quarter. And when Milney explodes we rarely lose. One of my favourite if not my favourite saints game ever. Didn't even notice it was raining until I got back to the carpark and realised I was drenched :)

Loved the Carlton game last year Monday night. Got inside the blues players heads and really gave it to them. Ignited the crowd (again) My hawks supporting mate who had always hated him texted me at the ground, and said that Milne had turned him around. Reckons it was one of the most entertaining games of footy he had witnessed - all thanks to Milney. By the end most footy supporters were starting to warm to him or at least give him grudging respect. Rapt for him that his twilight years of 2011/12 were his two best. Great way to remember him.

I think it was his best performance. Big occasion. Quality opposition. Delivered. The Brisbane game was great for other reasons.

There was a moment in the Geelong game (I think I have the right game) where he picked up a ball kicked to his toes - brilliantly, turned around and kicked it in front of Schnieds leading back into the forward 50. Schnieds took the mark and goaled. If Milney had of over run it, the Geelong player was off. Big moment.

Out marks Harry O and goals in last quarter of 2010 GF! Not bad for a guy who couldn't play in big matches!

Where to start!? The guy has been my hero for 10+ years.. he's given me so much joy both on and off the field with memories I will cherish forever. Here are a couple off the top of my head..

1. The Semi Final in 2004 against the Swans.. Milne had been dropped the week before, not playing in our thrashing against the Lions. He came out and kicked 4 goals, i was stoked.

2. Memories of him demolishing the Tigers, Carlton and Collingwood. The sheer delight of watching him torment opposition players and fans.

3. The way he got my adrenalin pumping after a goal - his celebrations are like no other, he had me on the edge of my seat with my heart racing for 274 games. He has been unreal.

4. Hearing that he had been awarded with the 'match ball' after the 2010 qualifying final against the Cats. It meant a lot to me that his efforts had been acknowledged in a big game - I'd always stuck up for him in this regard and to have him prove himself at a pivotal moment was special.

5. A personal highlight for me was last year - i had written a 7 page tribute to my football hero and managed to give it to his mum. I also had the opportunity to thank Milney in person for the joys he had given me over the years. i will be forever grateful having him as my favourite player. I couldn't have asked for more highlights and special memories from a 12 year old 'til now.

Thanks again for the memories Milney, you were a massive part of my life and football just won't be the same without you. You're a champion and i love what you brought to this club and to the game.

I'm not old enough to remember our successful era in the 60s and 70s so my footy life has been watching a disappointing team in the 80s and our 97 GF appearance as highlights until the Gt era. GT and the current crop built a team that lasted a decade or so at the top of their game and one of the pillars of the team was Milney. Every one credits Lenny and Roo but milney probably deserves to sit up along side those 2 as the real pillars of the team. Milney going is devastating even though you could see it coming. He sits along side some of the greats in AFL not just our team. Will be missed for so many reasons.

My best live memory of him was the volley goal he kicked against Brisbane in Round 9 2009 after Kosi trapped the ball, it bounced and up all of a sudden there was Milney hitting it as sweetly as you would like kicking it straight over the goal umpires hat! Magical stuff. I will remember him fondly.

Milne wrote:In 2001 against Hawthorn he had 2 players against him and the ball was kicked in the air towards him. He jumped and outmaneuvered the first players under the ball, and tapped it to his advantage away from the other player and snapped across his body for the goal.

That was the day he became my favourite player (hope I got the year right)
That's the moment that sticks out for me too!

So many highlights, but single handedly beating Richmond in 2008 was my favourite.

7 goals 3 behinds, 17 disposals, 6 marks, 5 frees against and we came from behind to win by 3 points.

Took a brilliant one hander against Chris Newman before going back and kicking the winning goal. One of three he kicked in a tense last quarter.

A special player who I'll miss as much as any Saint that has gone before him..

Without doubt a Champion of the game... Agree with others that the QF final V the Cats 2010 was a standout, purely due to how much was on the line...

I feel a sadness in his retiring, almost as if I have to accept watching the Saints will not reach the electrifying highs a player such as Milne creates.. Very few can get us supporters to those levels of shake your head excitement...

Will be greatly missed, and I thank him for his immense contribution to our club..
