Re: Siposs - what went wrong?
Needs to get some weight off
Run more
Build a tank so he can
1/ get to more contests
2/ make a second effort
3/ make a defensive impression
He relies on skill and movement to impact... Not brute strength
He is too heavy, therefore slow and lacks endurance

Re: Siposs - what went wrong?
Arryn Siposs was draft pick No. 75, there must have been some doubts about him to drift that far back before being picked.
He may just need time, he may not have enough ability, time will tell, he needs to get on with it though before some of this
negativity lands at the Linen House centre.
I'd like to know what Tony Micale thinks of Arryn.

The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?
Re: Siposs - what went wrong?
Fully agree. Or maybe we should move him on and he will kick 10 goals for Adelaide. The Redeemer wrote:He is 21 and has played 30 games.
Sheesh, relax. He will be fine

Re: Siposs - what went wrong?
I thought he wasn't attacking the contest hard enough, but if he has a shoulder problem requiring surgery, then I can understand he might be a bit hesitant to hit a pack hard. See how he goes in pre-season.
Re: Siposs - what went wrong?
Excuses, again
Unconfirmed reports, a good reason to form an explanation?
Yes, he,had an OP but how, when, how much he was injured is speculation... He struggled early doors
He played, therefore healthy enough..... Either that or the club is negligent, playing a less than fit 20yo??

Was injury a valid excuse for Sam Fisher's season or did he just suddenly become shithouse overnight??BigMart wrote:Excuses, again
Re: Siposs - what went wrong?
Club decided to run with Same unfit.... Knowing the level he can produce, obviously deemed it worth it? To a point.... Which they reached eventually...
He is a seasoned veteran and playing under done or injured isn't going to harm his developmentdevelopment
The positive of him playing outweighed the negative, like Hawkins
But in saying that, he is in natural decline like a few other old champs
Siposs would surely not be playing at a point where injury reduced his already developing oitput

Re: Siposs - what went wrong?
Depends how injured he was though right? I know the shoulder was an issue for a long time. I'm pretty sure he had another injury early in the season. He never got going this season.BigMart wrote:

I know the kid can play & play well.

Re: Siposs - what went wrong?
It is an attitude thing with Siposs--if he fixes that, he will be a quality player. He has the skill needed, but needs to get that professionalism that elite players have.
Re: Siposs - what went wrong?
I also am of the absolute belief he can play
With a better pre season and some more fitness hell make an impact... Good skills
What annoys me, is that everytime someone pays a bad game it because they were injured
1 why were they playing then
2 when you run out, your excuses are gone, youre fit to play

Re: Siposs - what went wrong?
Sorry mate, that is the biggest load of s*** I have ever read.BigMart wrote: 2 when you run out, your excuses are gone, youre fit to play
For example: If you've got a torn calf & you're on the field, you can't even run to get to the ball & you certainly can't kick it.
Yes, once you cross the line - you don't want to make excuses for your performance (but forgetting the specific issue we've discussing here, ie - Siposs) there have been many occasions when players have been forced to play for whatever reason (like Gwilt this week due to no height down back) where the player has struggled. People are saying Gwilt is a s*** footballer & on evidence, you could agree with that - but if you look at the facts, his body is stuffed - he shouldn't have played.
It does him no favours, people think less of Gwilt than they should, because on evidence he's playing poorly - but the poor guy is just helping the club out through a tough time.
Face it, if your body is f***ed - you can't play too good.
Re: Siposs - what went wrong?
So the club is forcing a 20yo to play injured... A practise that served Luke Ball well?
If one is i.jured in a game, yes obviously fair enough.... But passed fit to play, if you run out, youve got no excuses (i repeat) ...or dont play until your condition is not detrimental enough as such it can
Be an excuse for sub par performance
Imo

Gwilt is a case in point. If given a chance he wouldn't have played last week. Even the coach acknowledged that he wasn't really right to play but had to be "brave" due to our lack of numbers down back.
Re: Siposs - what went wrong?
And that served Gwilt and the team well??
He obviously played injured and it was not so brave as ridiculous?
But again, James is 26.... Arryn is 20
No need to risk a developing kid half fit, which is why i struggle to believe we risked a kid?
Can only lead to... Further injury, dent in confidence or stifled development

Do we know we risked him or is it just people on here saying that. maybe he was as fit as any other player. I doubt the club is risking players when there is no point at all.
Re: Siposs - what went wrong?
No - but that's my point exactly!BigMart wrote:And that served Gwilt and the team well??
Re: Siposs - what went wrong?
Wow you guys go off topic.
It was not relating to Siposs as I stated. I simply made the point that I disagree with your basic assertion that "injury is no excuse for poor performance". It definitely can be. You've actually agreed a couple of posts up with that, so I think we're on the same page.
As for Siposs being forced to play injured - well that was all your words, I never said that. I just said that he's struggled with injury this year & that he never got going. I think he'll work hard on his tank & be a lot better next year. He'd want to be.
They've also booked him in for surgery prior to the end of the season - which generally is not done for the hell of it.

Re: Siposs - what went wrong?
This sums up his game perfectly.saintsRrising wrote:Siposs - what went wrong?
He needs to become a more rounded player, that just being a forward that takes the occasional mark, or kicks a good finishing goal.
What he does, he does very well. His skills make everyone swoon over him because they are so far above many of his teammates kicking skills.
But he doesn't do nearly enough. He looks very slow, and doesn't work hard enough. Needs to get to more contests in order to give himself a chance of getting more disposals.
Re: Siposs - what went wrong?
Reminds me of Goddard early on. Beautiful skills, just lacking experiences, size and a bit of ticker.
He'll be fine.
He'll be fine.
it has been around this time that "Kosi" will headbutt a fence, rip a hamstring or belt someone.
Re: Siposs - what went wrong?
Look at BJ stats that year and Siposs this year. Nothing similar at all. Siposs has had a shocker. He needs to get of his arse and work hard and more importantly attack the ball harder. He has the skills but there is more to AFL footy than that.Kickit wrote:He's not unlike 2004 Brendon Goddard.
