Siposs - what went wrong?
The bloke was the next hero for our side 12 months ago but now looks a disinterested squib.
Perhaps he's being playing injured all year like everyone else?
Maybe our fitness management people are to blame for his demise and masses of injuries.
Or perhaps he's just not up to it. In any case, it's odd how he's dropped away so quickly to the point where his spot on the senior list is tenuous.
Maybe he's a type that need to be downgraded to a mature aged rookie for next season???

A very poor season this year from Sippo. He may just hang onto a spot on the list, but it's improve substantially next year, or move on. He has wonderful skills, but no intensity whatsoever - soft, many would say.

Re: Siposs - what went wrong?
To me he looks majorly unfit, and doesn't have any strength in contested situations.
So to me,he's either carrying something and unable to get a fitness base,or has a terrible tank, or just isn't any good apart from the booming kick. I dunno,he's showed signs in the 2's in the past that he is a level above, so hoping it's just a fitness problem that can be improved.
Maybe a victim of the Western Bulldog dud

Re: Siposs - what went wrong?
Seems some people writing him off. I for one am happy to be on record saying IMO he will make it.
Still young and inexperienced. Still only 20 years old (not 21 until November).
Hopefully keeps his head down. I expect another learning year in 2014... then will show more in 2015.
The idea of moving him on before 2015 is crazy.

Pretty sure hes contracted for 2014 anyway. To me he doesnt look hungry enough.
Re: Siposs - what went wrong?
Maybe one of those players who might think the games will just take care of itself without working hard for it.

He came across as if he had really made it this year (in interviews etc),possibly needs a goodentor to show him how much hard work is needed!

Re: Siposs - what went wrong?
I think he will be fine. Kind of a 2nd year blues thing....(not literally). Injury would be worrying him. Pre-season and then assess. Has the skills. Needs to body to match and a core fitness base from what I can tell. Does pretty good things when he gets it. Give the lad some time.

Re: Siposs - what went wrong?
Maybe he's not prepared to work hard enough on the track, etc.
If it clicks for him then he could be anything.

Siposs - what went wrong?
Given he was such a late pick, just supporters over-expectation.
His many positives made people blind to his negatives. The negatives have always been there.
He however remains as he has always been a very talented footballer with great skills....who has to work harder, and particularly his defensive game when the opposition have the ball, and acquire the knack of finding the ball more.
IF the coaches can solve his negatives he remains the type of player that could have immediate positive impact on the team next year.
He needs to become a more rounded player, that just being a forward that takes the occasional mark, or kicks a good finishing goal.

Re: Siposs - what went wrong?
I do find it quite funny that every player that doesn't do as well as we hope automatically has an attitude issue of some description... Ledger for example doesn't listen to the coach, is a party animal, and has an all about me attitude on SS in addition to The weakneses in his game.
Now apparently Siposs already believes he is a superstar
What went wrong with Sippa IMO is that because BJ left we decided that his skill set was perfect for the role of a sweeping HBF... Despite the fact that we have an abundance of players that could play that role, not to mention that Sippa, is and always has played as a forward.
So we trained him the entire off season as a sweeping back under the guise that because he has good skills and a penetrating kick that he will be able to pick up the positioning, have the tank, the mind of a defender etc etc
Possibly the coaches also thought that it might be a good idea to develop the defensive side to his game.
Then after what 3 rounds of it not going well, we switched him back and have frequently flip flopped him btw the 2 positions since then... Not really letting him settle into either.
In addition, somewhere along the lines he picked up an injury and it seems clear that the club tried to push him through it which he didnt manage.
All in all... I think the coaches used him very poorly this season and perhaps themselves had too an expectation of where his game was at. You note that of the younger players, the ones that settled into 1 position and found their groove were the ones that did the best.
SW got some of them right, a few of them wrong and the lack of KPPs down back clearly messed up our ability to structure as we should have with multiple players playing outside of the positions they could/would play in

Re: Siposs - what went wrong?
Nothing went wrong.
The year he had at his age, this far into his career, is certainly not unique.

Re: Siposs - what went wrong?
Sippa needs the whole year to slow build at sandy. Leave him there with no expectation and I'm sure he'll come good.
I've never seen a bad St.Kilda player - that's just how they are.
