good move by the club given where we are at.

Re: Farren sticking around
Not his biggest fan. But after seeing what happened in the Geelong game we do need some of these more experienced guys to stick around to stop us becoming Melbourne.

Agree with all of this.Bluthy wrote:Not his biggest fan. But after seeing what happened in the Geelong game we do need some of these more experienced guys to stick around to stop us becoming Melbourne.

I'm happy for Farren. Agree with comments above. Certainly not the perfect player - but at this stage, we can't afford to be without him.

Re: Farren sticking around
Hard to read how good a year he has had as the rest of the team has been average !
Going on last year's form steven's and armitage are better . Roo busts his gut every time he plays .
A couple of the kids have continue to make their way like newnes .
So farren has certainly played better than he did last year but the rest of the team has been poor !

Am I the only one that reads this and wonders if this means we are one step closer to Dal going ???

He's not a superstar but my theory is that if Farren is your 22nd best player in the team then you are going to be performing pretty well.mr six o'clock wrote:Hard to read how good a year he has had as the rest of the team has been average !

Re: Farren sticking around
I reckon he's been pretty maligned over the years with us, always preferred him in the team. Not a superstar, but jesus, not a Robert Eddy either. Watch him in an interview or two & you really see that type of experience/leadership he'd bring to a young side. A good clubman I have no doubt.
Very happy for him!

Re: Farren sticking around
A reward for perseverance for Farren. Last year he was in and out of the side, but he took his medicine (ASADA approved) and came back to be a better player. I think he fits the bill perfectly with our young list and I am pleased he will be with us for at least 2 more seasons.

Re: Farren sticking around
Decent player - but kicking and decision making him let him down.
Would be an A grader but those two factors really hurt his game imho.
But we cant afford to lose players in his age group - so I understand why we re-signed him.

Bloody good mark for his size - and pretty courageous. Under-rated for his courage IMHO.
Only negs for me are kicking/decision making.

Average would place you around 9th or 10th, just outside the eight.mr six o'clock wrote:the rest of the team has been average !
No! the whole team has been pathetic that is why they are only ahead of Greater Western Sydney and Melbourne.
With the quality of kids GWS was gifted by Demetriou that will soon leave our draft leftovers to compete with Melbourne for our favourite prize - the wooden spoon!

Re: Farren sticking around
I would (cynically) suggest that Melbourne have gone cold and I don't imagine 16 other clubs banging down the door…
I am happy to keep him though, he's a good versatile player, but I think one of he or Jones needed to go… fringe players over 27, we don't need many.

I agree with this too
I'm not a fan of playing under performing senior players and based on his talent, skill and experience, I do believe that Faz has underperformed
that being said, I don't want to transition all the senior players out at once and be like the dees

Re: Farren sticking around
I think along similar lines to a couple of posters regarding Farren's decision making/disposal under pressure, but he's been far from alone in that regard. This is a player who gives 100% and without being an absolute gun, works hard at his game. At this stage, we need him HERE alongside the Armo's and Steven's as we rebuild the midfield in the coming seasons. I'm happy to see a good honest player staying with us.
St Kilda forever ( God help me)
Re: Farren sticking around
I think his contested marking, kicking/ disposal decision making & run and carry have all improved this year - he has got to be one of the success stories for whatever the coaches are doing - if he continues to make small improvements in his game I can see him being in the team for a fair while.
