Luke Delaney
I think we should target this guy. 194cm, 97kg.
Consistently in the best this year for North Ballarat, genuine KPD, out of contract, can't brake into the Roos side, uses the ball well & only just 24.
Here is a link to his stats for this year.

Saw him play in the pre season comp. Made Ferguson's debut game against North look like a 300 game Brownlow medal winning key back.
NO IFS OR BUTS HARVS IS KING OF THE AFL
Re: Luke Delaney
Norths defence isnt that good so if this bloke cant get a gig for them i'd prefer to play simpkin.
Im still hopeful of landing a big fish in the trade period also!

Re: Luke Delaney
They actually have a glut of tall players north so does Essendon. Tate Pears would be okay too. I would try to pinch Tarrant instead of Delaney though.
Re: Luke Delaney
Also Ben Griffiths from Richmond is worth a look IMO too. Played some good games last year at FB for Richmond.
Struggling for opportunity this year in the senior side for Richmond but has been in good form in there VFL side.
He's 200cm 104kg's with good pace and a booming kick. Definitely worth a look. Thoughts??

The Tiges fans reckon he can kick 70 meter kicks with laser like accuracy- if he's that good why isn't he playing? Helbig would be a handy recruit too.
Re: Luke Delaney
Because they recruited Troy Chaplin.. And no to Helbig.gringo wrote:LTN16 wrote:Also Ben Griffiths from Richmond is worth a look IMO too. Played some good games last year at FB for Richmond.

Re: Luke Delaney
Luke Thompson is on top of my list, Milera for Thompson? Nah, no way they'd help us out like that despite Thompson's lack of game time this year, he isn't a #1 backman, but a great backup to Brown.
I can't speak for Delaney or Griffiths, but on paper seem ok but haven't seen much of them.

Has looked good in the games I've seen him play and is a Victorian boy.
Re: Luke Delaney
Will also be interesting to see how Kyle Hartigan plays this weekend who has been upgraded from the rookie list and has been named at full back for Adelaide.
Alot of people were saying last year that he would be a good pick up for us and that we should be looking at him.

Re: Luke Delaney
re 2's sides my guess is we should be aiming to pinch someone who cant break into a team who has a solid backline.... ie west coast, carlton etc
mitch brown would probably been a good pickup but not worth the money we were prob gonna hav to pay

Carlisle is about the most improved player in the AFL. I didn't see last nights game but I assume he had a shocker. He is a kid still and will only get better. I doubt Essendon would swap him for pick 3.

Re: Luke Delaney
Luke Delaney 3rd best again for North Ballarat yesterday.
That's 8 times in the best out of 14 games, but still can't get into the Roos seniors!
Bit like Ledger with us I suppose!

I reckon we can get Tayte pretty easily actually. Have to wait and see what, if any, penalties essendon players may receive after next week.gringo wrote:They actually have a glut of tall players north so does Essendon. Tate Pears would be okay too. Did my fitness course with him;
Nice enough bloke, decent size to him - back then he always worked pretty damn hard in the gym!

Re: Luke Delaney
Pears is rubbish. Seen him play up close for Bendigo against Port Melbourne when they were Essendon's affiliate and he got towled by both Galea and Bonnadio. Had about 6 or 7 kicked on him by those guys. Last I checked neither of them would be anywhere near an AFL radar.
If we get Brown for free (may or may not happen) and 1 or 2 of Thompson, Griffiths and Delaney we will be in a good position.
Ideally it will go something like
Brown for nothing in the Draft
Thompson/Griffiths/Delaney for a 3rd round pick or a player (maybe Ledger)
Thompson/Griffiths/Delaney for a 3rd round pick or a player (maybe Ledger)
Dunno if it will happen that way but if it does we will be laughing

Brown has re signed so not a chance. The others apart from Griffiths will probably be free.

Trouble is if he plays a blinder we probably can't/won't get him.sax wrote:Luke Delaney named at CHB for the Roos tomorrow night.

And if he plays a shocker we won't want him.
Looking for something in between I suppose then.
