Yeah the banner looks great
A black strip stuck on a blue background.
If it was that easy to do it should've been dine at the start of the year...admin.
i've got a black strip...but on a silver/grey and black background....never been a problem to me.......
and for the record...there were no pm's from me to anybody about the question of voting for mods.......didn't even know that was being pushed as an option....

Yes sorry old chap, I just received a warning for eluding to Matrix calling you a numpty…
This is exactly the kind of thing I was talking about which I don't think warrants a warning, numpty… considering the person I directed it has frequently called me a f***wit & and a f***-head. Anyway 0 - 100 Moderation… I'll have to get used to it.
BackFromUSA wrote:Yes . I had lots of NEGATIVE PMs about the prospect of nominations for MODS and any form of election! So that is off the table .
There goes the last vestige of any sort of poster control of this forum.
The Who said it best.... "Here comes the new Boss.... same as the old Boss,"
The momentum for change has dwindled down to the pace of a snail on crutches.
How many of the negative PMs came from the one IP address? Or is that a barbed comment?
IMVHO of course.
Yes, it seems strange that the few who PM'd against MOD voting automatically win out…
Isn't that the point of an election, so that the majority of people would be happy?
It's like a few people writing a letter to the governer general and asking if we could have dictators instead of voting for a leader… because they don't trust the majority of people's opinions?
Is that what is happening here?
We're talking about people like SainterK & Brat here, not gaz & joff… (sorry guys)

Matrix calls people who PM mods 'Numpties'.
You implied it was Stinger who did this, no one else.
You were warned for baiting him.
Should slap another warning on you for bringing a PM into the public forum and for the language used. Would that be fair?
I don't know HSV, I have no say on what is fair or how this place runs…
I didn't realise that swearing with stars blocking out the letters counted.
Apologies for making a PM public. I just find it weird getting a warning for calling someone a numpty who has called me an F-wit multiple times this year.
It is a little difficult adjusting from very little moderation suddenly to G rating.

I think my days are numbered.
Sorry again.
i never pm'd anybody about mods....and i hope you are not referring to me as the person using those swearwords.......i have never used the second expression...on this forum or anywhere else....

Really, so releasing a warning from a PM into the public domain is against the rules is it?
just read the proposed rules....found this
"GRIEVANCES
Please note that all official warnings will be done in private via PM. "
Sorry, knew that, but are we saying releasing the details of a PM into the public forum is against the rules?
Not the official warning bit, what about an unofficial warning?

My opinion, whether it be right or wrong, is that a Mod election just couldn't work. We might elect our political leaders but we don't elect our police. Mods are our police officers. They are appointed to do a job. If you start looking for elections, then what would be the criteria for nominations? Who would nominate? Would it be open for everyone? Who would decipher the good from the bad nominations?
Sorry, but my belief is that the best run forums have a strong consistent and largely anonymous board of moderators. Doesn't mean I am right though. Which I am. Maybe. Could be. Probably.

I'm too busy eating my takeaway with you on a Thursday night. Then people will think I will go lenient on you because we share a hamburger and fries!
I'd be too black and white for this place. No shade of grey with me. And I can be a bit of a numpty prick too. Just saying.

That's alright mate, like matrix, I don't really care who pm'd the mods… I assumed it might have been you as you had publicly expressed your opposition to the voting in this thread.
The numpty comment was a bit of a joke, but I guess it is baiting, (as 90% of the posts on here are IMO)
Was meant to be a bit of fun, my mistake.
I won't dig out old threads with your expletives as I'm already on thin ice.
dragit wrote:What's the alternative process for selecting mods & admin?
In my view, some respected long time posters get together and put some people forward for consideration. Approach those to gauge interest and then appoint them to the roles if deemed suitable. Like selecting an AFL coach. Lots of psychological testing!
Of course, once you identify the 'respected long time posters' you might already have your Mod Squad right there!!
