If we had a couple of mid-fielders who could actually put the ball on his chest he may have allot lease stress on his knee's !
How often do you see him run to position , only to have a high ball delivered . If he marks the ball high overhead he often lands on the ground with straight legs . this puts enormous pressure on his joints , often his opponents weight comes down on them as well .
This year i've seen him get up gingerly on many occasion's .
We are desperate for players with better foot skills .
on leads ...
he runs underneath the ball, & chooses to attempt the mark at the highest point, making an easy spoil for defenders
watch him
Nick just had a bad kicking night,
His legs not right anyway....
I think Rhys's should line up on the forward line somewhere just to help out...
I'm sure we an cut him some slack for once ...he's had a good year...

2010 : G 39 - B 34 - 53%
But you haven't included the ones he misses completely
those that go out of bounds
those that drop short
those he gets on the wing
those he gets on the backline
If you include all of those in the stats they'll show that he is a shocking kick at goal and should never have captained our Club because of it.
I would say that he has actually had way fewer complete shanks this year (i.e. ones that miss the goals entirely.)
I would argue that he shouldn't be played at the minute. He looks really proppy at times, and I think thats had an effect on his set shot kicking as well (obviously).
Tried to convey two years ago that he runs around with the agility of a man with a smashed body (understandably)
Shot down, and his ability was used to try and belittle the comment....
Fact is, his knee is rooted and if it weren't for his extraordinary courage, commitment, professionalism and above all Talent..... His body would have caused retirement.... He can run in straight lines, huge engine... But next to Zero agility.....
Watch him move in 2004-2009 and compare it to now,..... Different player, especially off th ground

Shot down because after one game in 2012 you actually said he moved like a super rules player. yes a super rules player and worst of all you said this from watching on TV. Now i watch plenty of games on TV but you must have a special screen because my screen shows mostly close ups and certainly doesnt show multilple leads that Rooy is renowned for.
And asmazingly you didnt mention any of this half way through the year. You are very weak in your opinions and always wait for the round when one silly comment might be shown to be true just for that week. And he moves differently to those early years. Who would guess that. Must only be you to have such knowledge. Lets get this straight Rooy has never moved anything like a super rules player and actually moved very well for a 30 year old player this year. Round one from TV Pfft.
C'mon Marto, his form for 10+ rounds this year has equalled his very best form of the past, yes his body probably doesn't let him do it for the whole season, but it didn't 5 years ago either.

Not sure you've remembered his past as accurately as you could.... Check out his numbers 2004-2009... Mind boggling
Now he's probably in the best 30 in the comp... Then he was in the best 3.....
He is still great..... Not bad for a man in pain...... He was a freak without rooted knees..
Well, even after a few ordinary weeks now his numbers well & truly stack up to 2010… just behind 2009.
The thing is though, even in those dominant years, I felt that he was starting to fade as the season went on… his knees were playing up even then… he played some amazing finals through sheer will power but if he had entered either grand final like he did the start of the season, we would have won IMO.

Why not not just rest him up for next year?
We want to finish 3rd last anyway. We may as well prolong his career.
No point sending him and damaging him now the season is shot. We will learn more about our list with him out for a few weeks anyway.
Seriously why play him in August?
Lets reboot him for next year.
