Tom Curren turned the game

Post: # 1363086Post #1GILL »

Just his presence on the field lifted the entire side. As soon as he came on we were s*** hot.

In all seriousness, he played half a game of footy for 7 touches, 2 tackles, and a goal. No obvious clangers that I can remember. Cracked in hard. Definitely showed enough to get a full game next week I thought. Those arms are the size of tree trunks.

How did we see his game?

Was excellent on debut. Bottom of the packs, tackling hard. Keep him in.

Pretty solid, didn't look completely detached from the pace of it so that's a good start. Seems a very likeable kid so I'd love him to get there.

Loved his ability to come into that kind of hot game.

Reckon they may of also got a spray though?

Noticed Len pull the midfield in for a stern talking late in the second, good leadership

little irritating that Milera, TDL and Saad have all played 5-6 games more than he has... would have rather played him even up forward in a pocket... least his effort is top notch

yeah… not sure, he really unsettled our 4 small forward setup.

hopefully gets dropped along with saunders so that we can bring back Saad & Milera, to compliment Milney and Donuts.

Honestly it's round pharking 17, he has been our best player at VFL for 18 months and we have been screaming out for more mids. Curren & Ledger may only be GOP's, but I just don't understand why we haven't given them a go before now.

Lets me guess… the coaching panel knows best… 3-4 small forwards is part of some highly technical brains trust experiment that will all make sense down the track.

a little like Brent Harvey in my book. would much rather have him on the forward flank than either of the three muppeteers.

really liked his first mark and kick. wasn't such an easy mark either. presented well with good leap and solid hands.

Current and Saunders cut from the same cloth those two we look much stronger with both of them in the side

First time that I have seen him and for a first game, in a tight contest, he did not look out of place. He may just add the bit of toughness that we need on the forward line. Lacks height for wing/marking position.

Don't get me wrong, i u/s the logic of persevering with TDL, give him every opportunity to make it at the level whilst we're rebuilding.

Don't have a prob eith that

Why doesn't Ledger get that opportunity esp in light of how poor TDL has been

+ 1
Well said.
Seriously it doesn't take some footy genius to work out Tom Curren desperately wants to play AFL footy and TDL doesnt give a stuff.
Incredible to reward to the someone who doesnt give a stuff over the one who has worked his butt of for 3 years. Won the B & F at Sandy but nah still good enough for a game in the Saints amazingly strong midfield and with our amazing small fwds. Seriously who were they kidding?
My mind boggles.

Reminds me a bit of Jarryd Blair. Small but hard at it, knows how to kick a goal and gets a game mostly based on his workrate.

Curren was great, loved watching him.
TDL and Milne are really out of form... really Seb Ross and Nathan Wright will be pushing for a spot along with Ledger.

I'm liking our young depth.
Simpkin was really good last night after the first quarter.

Milne needs to stay in for me.. that goal he kicked really ment something at the time. that's his Job to hit those.

I i think we will see Tom L very soon... Lee may get a rest and Ledger in...

Siposs? how's he going at Sandy?
