What a suprise. Cheats.
Game decided by a cheating umpire. Watched the Port player drop the ball himself and awards him the match winning goal. Blatant cheat but not a suprise after the goal they took off us in the first and gave them a goal.

What else do you expect? WCE and now this. Blatant incompetence costs us another game. Where is our useless, gutless, silent do-nothing President? Just lets us get bent over again, without a word. The sooner that waste of space goes, the better. Bring on a successor that actually fulfils the role. Right!

Mark to Hickey was even worse. At least three throws I counted, plenty of crap there. Oh well thanks for pick three you dumb maggots.

Dal should have known better. Stupidity. What was he thinking. Umpiring was ordinary tonight. Thought we got our share of the strange ones. Missing goals AGAIN is what cost us, plus I'm not sure who that team was playing in our jumpers in the first half.CURLY wrote:Game decided by a cheating umpire. No point in whinging ... we'll never get the points back ...
Try putting your passion into complimenting and recognising the players who really stood up for the Saints in that second half.

Re: What a suprise. Cheats.
Hasn't been mentioned yet I think, but why wasn't there a decision reversal when Roberton was knocked out? Port player ran past the ball and laid a high bump after the whistle. Even though play had stopped, I thought high contact at any stage of the game was an immediate free. We must be the unluckiest team in the league to have a player concussed during a stop in play and not get a free.
Of course I agree wholeheartedly with other posters regarding poor calls on the Hickey mark, the two obvious missed throws and the soft 50m penalty against Dal.

Pretty sure a second ump was very close and immediately blew a free to Roberton. Obviously the first ump told him to piss off?Frankie wrote:Hasn't been mentioned yet I think, but why wasn't there a decision reversal when Roberton was knocked out? Yes it was hard to watch.
However so was the Hickey out on the full, the Armo miss, the Joey poster, the two Roo misses and the fact the second time the Hoff took a grab we had neither Hickey or McEvoy contesting....

Just really hurts because you could see how pumped/emotional they were as we were coming back... A win tonight could have been the sort of stuff that really instills some belief in the young boys.BelfastSaint wrote:No point in whinging ... we'll never get the points back ...

Re: What a suprise. Cheats.
I no longer know what the umpiring rules are !
I watched a replay game during the week from 8 years ago , i couldn't believe the difference in the rules !
Both teams tonight missed out on free kicks imo !
but once again early in the game port got soft frees in their forward area and that really hurt us !
We did have many chances late but weren't good enough .

HIckey takes a crucial mark at a crucial time and they gave it to Westhoff.
That was the last straw.

Those last couple of minutes where viewed by the crowd in complete silence. No cheering or urging the players to keep going.
For two reasons, the players themselves had given up and we as a crowd knew there wasn't a hope in hell of the umpires giving the Saints a free kick that would have turned the game back our way to at Keats keep going until the siren.

How come no one has mentioned the interchange infringement. How can you blame the umpires for that. Seriously we shoot ourselves in the foot so many times. I think this guy sums it up well.

Many terrible decisions, but Port got a few go against them too.We should be more worried about the terrible first quarter effort where our mids and on ballers stood back and watched their opponents run away with the ball...more worrying than crap umpires.

First quarter effort is what lost us the game

Re: What a suprise. Cheats.
I don't think "they" cheated last night so much as just plain incompetent.
They actually did cheat during that West Coast game (I think it was). That was the time the umpire lover went looking for "me love you long time". That was disgraceful as was the Richmond game.

If you are going to award a 50 metre penalty which changes the result of the game, then I just think you need to be certain… That one was dubious at very best.

Re: What a suprise. Cheats.
I was disgusted more with the decision to review the Tom Curren goal. How in God's name can a goal umpire who is in a perfect position, and nearer to the ball than anyone, doubt that it was a goal?
