Surprised not more has been said about Shenton. Every time I have watched him i have been super impressed.

Dunell must play

I also thought that Siposs played a team role especially in the last. I just wish he had more intensity in his game as he seems to wait for the game to come to him

Munga wrote:Just watched the game. My view on our players:

Lever poor. Hardly sighted.
Blake below average.
Webster average.
Shenton excellent, contests hard, presented, good target, got some toe.
Simpkin immense, spoiled, tackled Hayes like.
Wright not much ball, not seen after half time.
Ledger good first quarter, quiet thereafter.
Dunell brilliant, contested marks, great user of the ball.
Curren average.
Staley quiet.
White had it three times and absolutely starred for every touch.
Saad not good.
Pierce has put on some weight since I saw him earlier in the year. Wasn’t disgraced in the ruck, but certainly was getting any taps to advantage, but very raw. Smart kid.
Ross butchered the ball three or four times when not under pressure. Unfortunate.
Siposs ok. A pass but didn’t dominate.
Minchington like Ross butchered a few when not under pressure. Hard nut.

As far as Saints players go, and doing the footy show style votes, Dunell 9, Simpkin 8, Shenton 7, White 5. Quality not quantity. Dunell and Simpkin should easily get called up, brilliant. Shenton very good, should be tested at AFL level some time. And White is quality. Just get him in.

The coaches didnt think he played a team role at all, quite the opposite (except for that one piece play where he hit up Wright)

very happy with lewis pierces progression i have seen a lot of his games this year and he just keeps getting better and tougher looks like he has a little mongrel streak in him which is great for an 18 yo 202cm first year player.. can kick a goal and not disgraced in the ruck have to remember he was pick 75 so if he came good its a very big win!!

I am too- he just looks a natural ruck to me. I can see him being a Darren Jolly type long term. Rucks can come from anywhere look at Cox. He looks like he could play now if he was heavier.

I like Shenton too he looks good at times. Shame he isn't following instructions he's got something about him.

very true not saying he will make it just like how he goes about his football... not sure but he may be able to be put on the mature age rookie list but would have to be delisted first... can anyone shed some light on that?

He has a year to go if they want to keep him. Rookies can be kept for 20 years if you want to just other clubs can get them after 3 or you can trade for them.

I've seen a lot of shenton and I don't think he's an afl standard footballer.

He plays well at times, he does some great things at times but he is a pretty average kick and to me looks a step behind the required level.

Looks like Clark Kent.
Let's hope he bulks up and plays like Superman.

You can't keep a rookie for more than three years.

Shenton looks like a character from Lost.

Totally agree. Has been pretty average all year. Will have one good game every now and then but no way is he showing enough to be kept for another year. They should have kept him down back like last part last season which saw him start to really dominate. No idea why they throw him forward and all over place now.
