It would seem Sippos is a natural forward being asked to learn different positions. What was BJ's position in his junior career?

Midfielder...

Watched him go head to head with Salopek in 2002 at Shepley.

Salopek had 33 and Goddard 39... Both dominated

BJ did play HBF also, in particular in the champs.... Where he also dominated.

Cheers BM. No wonder BJ has always had an exceptional tank. That seems to be the main issue with Siposs.

To be realistic Goddard was a number 1 pick and Siposs was about the last guy selected in his year. If Siposs makes it he will be one of very few to have made it from that late in the draft. He is probably where he should be at this stage it's just he was one of the most promising kids in Ross Lyons time. The rest are nearly all gone.

Fair call.
The reason we all got carried away with Siposs (and Stanley) is because our recruitment between 2006-2010 was so incredibly atrocious that we built these two up way beyond reality based on the fact there was nooone else in that period and they were the best of a terrible bunch. The media also got involved because they were trying to be positive about the Saints and didnt have much to work with so latched on to these two guys in absence of anything else.

Lets just let them develop at their own speed based on their actual talents.

I wasn't comparing the talent of BJ and Sippos but the fact that both took/are taking a while to find a position and are regarded as utilities.

He is still only 20 or something. 4-5 pre-seasons and then see what player we have !

One of the points I cryptically made in my previous post was referring to the fact Siposs was the pick before "LES" ala Paul Seedsman.

If you don't know the term LES then Oh Brian will help you out....

Les is going OK, Siposs needs to get on with it....

for me Siposs has shown some great flashes...hes only 20 and has shown plenty. Wasnt he a very young player in his draft and this infact suggests that he could of gone a lot higher than he did the next year. I think he will do very well, everyone just needs to chill out and let him learn...hardly anyone walks into their job and dominates from the start. BTW he's only 20 and this BS talk about him being trade bait please.....

it's only idle forum chat, it doesn't have any bearing on reality, it will work itself out over time without us having any influence at all, and we'll be able to give an opinion on his progress, or lack thereof
as time goes on...

That's what forums are for.

Born in December, so not you... More middle age bracket... Not eligible to play U18 after he was drafted, so whilst he was still 17 when drafted, he was not as young as say, Ball, Goddard, Steven, Maguire who were born April/May and were clear bottom agers

Makes sense to me. Saying that siposs was too old to play the following year in the under 18 comp so therefore isn't that young. As the other players he named coul have had another season in the under 18s

A half intelligent person could work it out... One word is auto-corrected.. Which one?

A question was raised about his age when drafted, answered.

Really? I'm only half intelligent and this made no sense to me whatsoever:

Born in December, so not you

What the hell does that mean ??

BigMart need to quote. Really its not that hard to do so.

Lance or James??

Wow Seedsman was a good get at that pick. You can't rate a mid against a bigger player as they often take different amounts of time. Goddard looked miles off when others would have been jumping out of the blocks. Puopolo and Clay Beams were good gets too.

If Sipposs was playing the 7th defender and loose at Collingwood he'd be doing the same as Seedsman just with better finishing skills.

Not sure about that. Seedsman can really play IMO. Siposs was tried as that type of defender early in the year and failed so he went back forward.
