Mitch brown
Scotty in the age reiterating how much we want brown. You could be forgiven in thinking the club is a little fixated? Do we want to put all cards on the table?
He also goes on to say "this year looking towards the draft, we are very thin for midfield numbers and class talent and it's been well documented that we really need to look at a key defensive point of view"
That's word for word.
What the feck does that mean? Please tell me it is us the saints that is thin on midfielders and class talent and not the draft? I'm pretty sure he is but I'm nervous because the quite followed on from how much he rated and wanted Mitch brown...I'm freaking out that we are going to trade away picks...again. This has mini-bus written all over it

Re: Mitch brown
Can't believe the obsession on one GOP.
Sure ill take him but while our midfield is sub standard and under manned he won't change the scoreboard

Re: Mitch brown
Scott is saying we will draft the best available player in the draft , whatever there position .
In red white and black from 73
Re: Mitch brown
Lets just wait till the end of the year.
That quote refers to the thin midfield stocks at the club not the draft. The draft looks good in terms of midfield class. What you quoted has nothing wrong with it. Everyone can see our glaring deficiencies:
Lacking midfield numbers
Lacking a full back
I would look at Brown especially when the bloke has only played 61 games. Has shown that he will be good for the spot. Remember that the Eagles had the chance last year with him having a year left. He can simply walk this year. And nominate for the preseason draft or national draft with a price on his head.

He can do that but there was rumours GWS were interested in both brothers. They get first pick in the pre season draft. if we want him we are going to have to trade for him. Anything more than a third rounder is overpaying IMO.

Re: Mitch brown
4th rounder or walk to the PSD… nothing more or i'll spew.
He could put a 600,000 one year price on his head, we could give him 800,000 for 3 years, I doubt GWS will want to pay that as they have MUCH bigger fish to fry.

So what do you pay for him? He isnt what we need at pick 22.

i would ask get him to nominate for the preseason with a front loaded price on his head and hope we can scare off GWS. Not trade for him or if we did get a second or third rounder. I wouldn't fixate on him Pears from the Dons would go okay too.
Re: Mitch brown
Would they use a National Draft pick on him though? ALA Luke Ball?plugger66 wrote:Buckets wrote:Lets just wait till the end of the year.

Not keen on pears, not tall enough. Hopefully don't offer to much to get brown. Think he will be good but not worth anything under a 3rd rounder. Eagles owe us after the dodgy cripps deal. Really hope they have a good crack at Luke Parker, looks a real leader and hard nut. At only 20 yrs old and pretty sure was in the premiship team , would fit our team perfectly

They have more than us so maybe. Lets face it if we are as keen as we sound then it looks laike a trade. i hope it isnt pick 21 or 22 or whatever we get.

Re: Mitch brown
I just hope that if we do get him, we don't get stiffed in the process. We needed him this year, but WCE played hardball for him. If they do that again, we should look elsewhere and wave a better deal in their faces.

Can't see Sydney letting Parker go. Everitt maybe even Gary Rohan but unlikely Parker.
Richmond have a couple worth looking at on the fringes Helbig has been mentioned and is behind Vlastuin etc. Ben griffiths is the greatest player ever if you listen to the Tigers supporters but doesn't get much of a run and Steven Verrier is supposed to be a gun at VFL level.
North have Tarrant who can't get games behind their favoured forwards and will be back up until they retire Petrie. They also have a big defender called Tom Curren who is going to be a player too. We could raid them while opportunity isn't given to them. Curren was very highly rated as a kid and is a nice size.
Re: Mitch brown
We were lacking mids and a fullback the previous two seasons.
Over that time we've recruited three specialist forwards, no fullback, a mature age recruit that is still a "few years away" and another #1 ruckman?

The recruiters are working the issues over multiple drafts, hopefully we find some skilful players that become A Graders..SainterK wrote:We were lacking mids and a fullback the previous two seasons.

The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

we needed rucks too. We had a farcical situation where we lost Big Mac, Stanley, Kosi and Blake last year.
At least they have tied Lee's achilles back on and pushed him out on the ground this week so we might not need to wait as long at least.
we also seem to have recruited several young players that play as midfielders. The FB was a stuff up but they only got scuttled by Essendon's holding onto Pears.

Plus a tall defender who will be prominent in th B&F. Can't mention the others and conveniently forget him.SainterK wrote:We were lacking mids and a fullback the previous two seasons.

Now that could be confusing unless we delist our tom curren (which is looking more likely as time goes on and he fails to get an upgrade). Although the north one is called tom curran with an a not an e. And he is only 195cm in height so still may not be quite big enough.

That's what I think every time I see Brown (& twin Nathan) play. Would be very happy to have him at the Saints. Right age and played about 60 games. Guess everyone sees things differentlyBuckets wrote:Lets just wait till the end of the year.....

Why are we being so obvious with our interest? So stupid unless we are deliberately throwing a scent whilst interested in another player all together??
I just think we are upping his value - especially for a player that we should legitimately get for nothing. Seems so amateur..?
