GWS will take Franklin first and then they will angle to grab Frawley with the #1 pick as the carrot.

Who does well out of that trade? Possibly the Giants who get Hurley and Bellchambers. Carlton get 2 guys who are still development mode and swap for a potential player. Essendon get rid of two guns for guys with potential but aren't any better than what they lose.

Hawthorn are a smart club and if they feel like that Buddy is ready to walk to GWS then they will land a pre-emptive strike and deal directly with GWS and agree a swap for the #1 draft pick rather than lose Buddy through free agency. Buddy will feel like he has given something back to the club and therefore his conscience will be eased. Hawks in turn will use #1 on Boyd and have their next CHF ready to go.

I dont get why that will happen. it makes no sense for GWS to do that. They lose a pick they dont need to lose. Buddy is leaving for the money pure and simple and no problem with that. If GWS say we wont do that deal Buddy because we are paying you huge money what will Buddy do, still leave because its all about money.

GWS want Buddy badly and if he is oscillating between yes or no and Hawks give them Buddy on a platter in exchange for pick 1 then I reckon they will take it.

If they do that then GWS should fold. They will be paying him a huge amount. They will say you come to us and we may win a flag in 5 years. Giving the Hawks another pick may make that harder. it isnt going to happen and if it does the recruiting department should be sacked. Lets look at what the real options are. Buddy and lose pick or buddy for nothing and maybe a Kruezer and lose pick one.

Pick 19 for Dal Santo actually isn't far off. But I wouldn't want him to leave.

it's not that bad a trade.... if it was for either/or...

but not worth ruffling the feathers of the remaining talent by forcing the issue, better to just put it in front of them and see if either of them were interested.... if not, keep em and keep everyone happy....

perhaps dal would like a season where BJ takes the hard tag again, and he gets to rack up a few more possies/brownlow votes

haha

From a business transaction completely agree with your logic, and it well may be that GWS say no to that deal. My point is it all comes down to how Buddy feels about walking out on the club. You may well be right, but I have a suspicion if he does walk out, it wont be as clear cut as logic says it should be.

We're better off just dealing directly with a club in the top 4-6 who are after them rather than getting involved in a multi party deal which helps make other clubs stronger.
Yeah, I like the idea of us backing out right at the last minute of this deal simply to inconvenience the likes of both Essendon and Carlton

it was just a bit of fun on the panel, means nothing, gave them 15minutes of conversation

the point of it all and this does make sense is that for the first time in years the #1 pick is up for trade, so what would it take.

the last time it happened it was hawthorn and freo (Hodge #1 plus another pick) for Croad and Mcpharlin

so obviously the point of this is it is going to take more than a couple of b graders to get the #1 pick

lighten up ffs
I get this but why do the saints always get the s*** end if the stick? Robbo is the only one on 360 that has any time for us at all

Completely agree 100%

When you just trade away or allow your best players/leaders/club men waltz out the door, then you really start to rip the heart & soul out of the club.

Obviously, the club has to make tough decisions on personnel. But Dal is still a solid contributor and we still REALLY need experienced leaders to show the way for the young talent that does come into the club - would have become the great player that he became if he didn't develop alongside Robert Harvey?
