Re: Upgrades at Moorabbin.
+1.
Maybe we should ask the AFL for $30 million (half Essendon's fine?) to build a boutique stadium there. Make it the go-to destination for the huge demographic in the south for whom the CBD is too far away. 30,000 capacity, no frills.

Most welcomed news, if true.

only if you have $500,000 to pop into the bucket.. given our reduced membership and sponsors shy,,,, and facilities will take more than 6 months I would think

Re: Upgrades at Moorabbin.
This has been in pipeline for quite a while, it's so we can train there and will allow more TAC Cup games to be held there. Not sure it's necessarily being done for a standalone team.

Re: Upgrades at Moorabbin.
SW said at a function a couple of weeks ago that a Standalone team is 100% on the agenda but $$$ is the stumbling block..$300,000 was mooted as the cost to get it up and running..that doesnt count the upgrades needed to Moorabbin.
Its something we desperately need but sadly we cant afford it atm. Thank the 10,000 Members who havent renewed in the last 2 years :/

Re: Upgrades at Moorabbin.
Looking like a much needed "local" training ground option. Future development will be based on funds available - don't hold your breath !

Re: Upgrades at Moorabbin.
I call b#llsh*t on that. Sorry, haven't heard anything from the club, no mention at all in the papers. Where are we going to get the money to set up our own stand alone VFL club?!? I agree with the concept - Sandy are a joke - but the whole point of us moving away from Moorabbin as a training base was the issue of generating funds through the pokies (1) and the delapidated traing facilities (2). Both things that the joke of a council didn't care to support us on at all.
So things have changed all of a sudden have they? Without any publicity - and we all know how publicity shy councils are don't we?
Absolute tripe.

Re: Upgrades at Moorabbin.
Call it what you want. Again I'm only passing on what someone ,associated with the club, told me.And they did mention it was to get us ready for our own VFL team and to update facilities in general for the players.samuraisaint wrote:I call b#llsh*t on that. Re: Upgrades at Moorabbin.
If we had of moved to Frankston Oval like we should have we would have an iconic ground for training, VFL and preseason. Instead we are using three grounds! Long term goal should be a move to Frankston Oval.

I dont get why it would be any different and apart from Seaford where are the other 2 grounds?

Re: Upgrades at Moorabbin.
Moorabbin and Frankston for family days, children's clinics etc...
Frankston would be different because it would be a one stop shop ground - embraces peninsula market, is iconic bayside, in a central activities area, is a VFL ground, training facility and has a stadium and parking and PT to cater for preseason

Yep but none of those for training. Its no big effort for anyone I would have thought and i fail to see why training at Frankston means we wouldnt have things at Moorabbin anyway. We didnt even have our family day at Frankston oval this year.

Re: Upgrades at Moorabbin.
I think BN means Moorabbin and Etihad. He has a point though, what is the point of spending money on Moorabbin when we are only leasing it and also training at Seaford? If the council want it developed let them do it - and yes; I live in Kingston so I will be one of those footing the bill if they did that. I think BN is suggesting that Frankston Oval is more central for the general populace and closer proximity to infrastructure, as well as being a local landmark, making it easier to access for people living in the Frankston area. Is that correct Bayside?

Re: Upgrades at Moorabbin.
3-4 years time for a stand-alone VFL team I'm told....about 1/2 the time of our 8 year re-build !!!
As we'd all understand, funds are the issue. Re do Moorabbin, get it up and going and then start to move towards our stand alone team.
Sounds good - not sure where the $$$ come from though!

We are leasing it for about another 30 years so it would need another upgrade by then anyway. Isnt Seaford and Frankston about 3km apart. I dont get it myself.
