SFC allocated close to $900,000 in Council budget for resurfacing works
03/07/2013
Bayside City Council has confirmed it has allocated almost $900,000 in its 2013/14 final budget for resurfacing works to take place at Trevor Barker Beach Oval starting in September/October.
It was reported that the TBBO resurfacing works would be at the expense of six other local sports ground projects including parks in Cheltenham, Beaumaris, Sandringham and Hampton however all of those grounds have had funds allocated to them for works in this budget.
The Sandringham Football Club is relieved and excited that the Bayside Council has recognized the need and the urgency for the TBBO to be resurfaced due to the poor condition of the ground.
Cr Laurie Evans said fixing the surface, which has been described by other VFL teams as unfit for play, was "top priority, It has been deemed unfit to play for OH&S reasons" Evans said. "This is not a great thing for our premier club".
It will be the first time TBBO has been completely resurfaced and the project will ensure the ground is up with the best in Bayside. The existing turf will be ripped up, new drainage and sprinkler system installed, the ground levelled and new turf laid.
The project, which will come in at approximately $900,000, has been in the works for quite some time and was confirmed at a Bayside City Council meeting last night
