Milney must annouce his retirement soon

Post: # 1348280Post plugger66 »

As much as it hurts me to say this i think he has to now. The club have put him on indefinite leave and nothing in the short term will change to make the club change their mind. Better for everyone concerned that Milney now says goodbye and gets permission to do a lap of honour after a home game in the coming weeks. I would be interested in others thoughts on this.

Agree. Its sad but unfortunatley I can't see any change to this situation in the short term. Would Milne want a lap of honour Im not so sure.

A lap of honour would be awkward.

At the moment yes but maybe it will die down a little later in the season. Cant see any other way to say goodbye. maybe he cant considering the circumstances.

Sadly have to agree with you. Cannot see the court case proceeding quickly. Just wish that the case had been investigated properly in the first place.

I agree with your post but what came to mind was what game would he do that? Could you I imagine? Makes me cringe thinking about it.

If he's acquitted he should come back for another year.

It will take at least a year to aquit if it gets all the way. We arent going to have him on our list next season as a maybe player.

As you can imagine I'm pretty distraught about the whole thing. Whatever the case, as a Saints player, he has been a star for our club and I think both he and his supporters deserve some form of 'goodbye'. As it stands, it's probably in the best interests of everyone that he stands down. I certainly didn't see this coming and it's far from the send off I had in mind, on Roo's shoulders at the end of the year. But, it's come to this unfortunately, I can't believe this has gone on for this long, it's just not fair for anyone concerned and should have been handled so much differently at the time.

I will continue to support the player i have forever idolised and his innocence, until proven otherwise.

I don't think a lap of honour will be on the cards, but I agree with rest of the OP. Sad end but.....

I would prefer to have a 250 game club legend to some marginal talent if it came down to it. I'm pretty sure that if we used words like 'due process' though, the AFL would give us some form of special consideration.

The board should do a lap of shame at at home game so they can receive the contents of toilets.

Not a hope and it wont look good for the club. He probably wouldnt be available till very late 2014 anyway so as sad as it is there is no point for anyone.

Terrible business. I think people should always be considered to be innocent until proven guilty. If he's not remanded in custody, then he ought to be able to play.

But the obsession with image management in our world today means that once someone is given a bad name, the onus is always on them to clear themselves.

Umm, did I read the committal hearing is in early July ??

If they decide it isn't going to trial, would that not see him free to play this season?

How long do committal hearings normally run??

No lap of honour... Not while this seriously grey cloud is hanging over him & the club.

If he is aquited then there will be plenty of time for a lap of honour... If he is found guilty, then his career achievements are compromised unfortunately... IMO

I would think the club would look good allowing the legal process to take it's course.
