For the good of the club
Milnes should retire immediately....
I understand that he has a presumption of innocence, but can the club be dragged through another (even repeated) scandal?
Personally I have had enough of it on our club.
I feel for Milne and you are retired a long time, but can we really afford to have someone charged with such a serious crime allowed to continue to play for the club?
I really hope that nothing comes of it, but the club will be dragged through the mud by the scum in the media and really cant afford the bad publicity.

Lance or James??
There comes a point in every man's life when he has to say, "Enough is enough." For me, that time is now. I have been dealing with claims that I cheated and had an unfair advantage in <redacted>. Over the past three years, I have been subjected to a <redacted>investigation followed by <redacted> witch hunt. The toll this has taken on my family, and my work for <redacted>and on me leads me to where I am today – finished with this nonsense. (Oops just got a spontaneous errection <unredacted>)

Re: For the good of the club
Cant agree but each to there own. Milney will be a Saints player even if he quits right now and I also think it would be a bad look for Milney to quit. I honestly think he should play this week if he feels up to it and if he doesnt then he should rest until he does feel up to it. If he wants to retire then he does that. having seen what Milney has gone through I reckon he will stick at it.

Re: For the good of the club
I hear ya JB, but I think the club is going to attached to this regardless.
Lovett is still referred to as "ex-saint" even though he didn't clock up one game with us.
I don't think Stephen Milne becomes any less a "StKilda player" even if he retires.

Re: For the good of the club
While I agree that he shouldnt play or even be anywhere near the club while this is going on I believe that Milne retiring looks almost like an admission of guilt. At this time he probably needs all the support he can get. I really hope the club doesn't abandon him

Fair enough, just my thoughts on the matter.

Don't think it would be an admission of guilt, it's not like he is in his 20's. He has a family to be with and is on the brink of his career as is.
Re: For the good of the club
I have been calling for his omission anyway, I want Saad to play his role now....has nothing to do with this latest set of events.

Saad is playing the same role. He just isnt very good at it. The only way Milney will miss is if he choses to. Funny time for you wanting him dropped after his best game of the year.

Re: For the good of the club
Has to stand aside
We can't have a media circus following players around
Too much of a distraction for players and coaches
A shocking look for sponsors .
I feel for Milney . This happened so long ago and it should have been dealt with them.
But he needs to step aside.
Anyone wonder we can't get any decent sponsors and we can only get blokes sponsors .
This is why.

To you are others saying he should stand aside then I ask how long for? A week or two or a month? What amount of time.

Re: For the good of the club
Nettlefold has admitted the "St Kilda schoolgirl" affair cost the club "millions". Sadly, this will cost the club even more millions.

The trial is in 3 weeks? Surely that is just a hearing? It may not even go to trial.
Re: For the good of the club
That's the point, I don't want two specialist forward pocket players....IMO only one is enough, and only one will flourish at any given time....I'd rather it be Saad at this point in the clubs history.plugger66 wrote:SainterK wrote:I have been calling for his omission anyway, I want Saad to play his role now....has nothing to do with this latest set of events.

Well each to there own. Id rather a good player than a player who is playing terribly and shouldnt even been in the side. Dont care what year he is in at the club. Needs to get a game because he deserves it. And at the moment he doesnt.

I have to agree. If we are consistent (Gram and Lovett) then Milne will be sacked immediately.

Re: For the good of the club
The press conference from Milne should go something like this
" I am shocked and devastated at these charges. As not to bring unwarranted attention to the club and its players I am standing down until the court hearing is over. I welcome the chance to clear my name once and for all. Thank you."

I am of that opinion as well.
What a sad day it will be when I cant see Milney kicking goals for us, and if that day has come, it is regretted.

Re: For the good of the club
Not sure there is an inconsistency as the situations are not similar are they?Old Mate wrote:I have to agree. If we are consistent (Gram and Lovett) then Milne will be sacked immediately.
Lovett had a drunk and disorderly, then another time turned up to training in an unfit state, and then got involved in the last event that led to his sacking. He wasn't sacked for that particular event, but for his third indiscretion.
Likewise Gram fell foul of the law multiple times and ignored the clubs strict guidelines.
Not saying he won't be sacked just find this situation a little different to the above?
