Laidley linked to Melbourne? !!

On 360 tonight Whatley & Robinson mentioned Laidley (in a cast of 1,000's) for the Melbourne Coaching job. Could this give Scott Watters the opportunity to refresh the St Kilda coaching panel by thanking Laidley (and possibly others) for their services?

I don't know why but it might be beneficial to have a look at a guy like Gary Ayres for the Senior Assistants job. Thoughts? !!

Neeld might be the best Assistant Coach EVER, but just doesn't cut it at the top job. He IS a mate of Scotty and they did work together at Collingwood !!

Pretty much ticks all of the requirements then! I don't think its fair to say Neeld doesn't cut it at the top job, I am pretty sure he was on a hiding to nothing @ Melbourne.

I agree. Would have been mission impossible for any coach with the situation at that club.

I reckon the new paradigm is to have assistants with senior AFL experience and whilst Neeld has it I don't think it's going to be relevant at any club, and plus if part of what was revealed about Neeld on SEN this afternoon by Rohan Conoly has any truth to it then it's a fair chance he'll never work in this town again.

Reckoned that in his very first game as senior coach, they played Brisbane and did ok in the first half and not so good in the second but apparently ripped shreds of the playing group and that it is such an infamous that somehow someone got hold of video footage of the performance and use it to coach others on how not to address a group...something to that effect and there were other examples that, as I say, if true, are fairly damming. Sounds like his introduction into the caper was more like the sought of performance reserved for coaches that have legend status and/or have been in the caper a lot longer than 19 games. In any case it sounds like now that he's gone that the knifes are coming out from people that might have had their toes stepped on.

Maybe Melbourne should have gone with Sheedy at the time instead of someone who had never coached. He's free again next year I believe.

ayres had 2 cracks a senior coaching and was ok at both clubs but not great, dean laidley had one crack at senior coaching and excelled at it I would rather keep laidley

No reason we have to loose someone to bring Neeld to the saints. Massive achievement getting appointed as a senior coach for an AFL team must have done something good at the Pies with Scotty, and Buckley..........whilst Malthouse is a s*** head he is still a good coach and when asked about Neeld, he can't speak more highly of him.

Would be an asset behind the scenes I think.

Have a look at how Ayres is going at Port Melbourne.

They are doing ok and he's senior coach
