I want us to avenge the 2006 Elimination Final and win by our greatest ever margin against them.
Your friendly neighbourhood samurai.
Re: Do you want us to beat Melbourne?
I wasnt upset that we lost. I didn't barrack for us to lose but the end result didnt wreck my long weekend the way it would've if we needed to win to make top 4, I don't think anyone on here could say that.saintspremiers wrote:Well good to see no tankers on here at the moment.
A few weren't too upset we lost to the Weagles re draft pick order.
Yes I know we were cheated by the umps, but surely most fans at the game wanted us to win??

Re: Do you want us to beat Melbourne?
It really upset me. I wanted to beat those flogs more than anything. And I want the Saints to really beat up on Melbourne this week. Twnety goals would be nice (although unrealistic).

So, you are publicly endorsing the Saints chuck the game. Tank. Cheat. Commit fraud.ljpoyz wrote: The four points mean nothing to us in reality, but I want to see our future imbedded with what I regard as a good, competitive culture.

Re: Do you want us to beat Melbourne?
I want to win the next premiership as soon as possible.
We need great draft picks.
We need a great culture.
I'll stick with culture, which means winning, but we sure need some gun kids.

Clueless and mediocre petty tyrant.
Re: Do you want us to beat Melbourne?
I wanna tank, but not a complete tank, a play the kids tank (WCE)
you never go full tank
we'd be an absolute disgrace if we lost to the Dees
if it was the difference of us receiving a pick of a Judd quality type compared to a Travis Boak quality type, then i'd find a way to deal with it

Win by over 100 or lose.

A complete flogging is in order for this club.
Don't deserve any more handouts etc.like to see this as another nail in Neelds coffin ..

100 goals in 14 games...Lockett is the key
Re: Do you want us to beat Melbourne?
If the difference between Lenny playing on another year is having a rest in August this year then yes finish up the year early.Teflon wrote:correct weightjoffaboy wrote:We dont need to tank.
We take the foot off, blood our youngsters, send players in for surgery early etc.
Difference between what we are doing and tanking.
IMHO Roo needs a holiday from August, Hayes if he plays on also.
Play kids - find out who is gonna make the grade......maybe rest the captaincy on some new bloods shoulders for a few weeks.......time is good.
If not (i.e. he's going to play on regardless) then I'd rather he played as many games as possible.
Assuming that we don't play in finals this year or next, Lenny needs to play another 31 out of 33 possible games to hit the 300.
Hird... The unflushable one is now... just a turd...
Re: Do you want us to beat Melbourne?
It isn't that I don't care, I want us to win, but I want the kids to learn the right way and win the right way. Like Hammil imposed upon Roo, Ball, Dal etc etc. It serves better in the long term.

It depends on who the opposition are.
So you don't care if we lose to Melbourne as long as we put in a good show? I don't think so.
It matters if we lose to a basket case. It matters big time IMO.
Re: Do you want us to beat Melbourne?
How the f*** did I publicly endorse tanking, I said I want our kids to learn to play the right way consistently. Whatever happens from there happens. The four points actually do mean nothing to us as we wont make the finals. FLOG.

A win = 4 points. Same thing. You can't get one without the other. Clutching at straws methinks.
i am Melbourne Skies - sometimes Blue Skies, Grey Skies, even Partly Cloudy Skies.
Re: Do you want us to beat Melbourne?
Saying winning isn't that important to us (because we can't make the finals) and therefore we should try to teach the kids to play the right way does not mean we should try to lose. "Tank. Cheat. Commit fraud."
Sometimes the reading comprehension on this website is "unbelievable"
Funny enough, read through the thread again and quite a few people are on a similar page to me.

Re: Do you want us to beat Melbourne?
Don't want a losing culture at our club, especially with all the new blood coming through- Melbourne must be belted! In this game I want to see some of our younger guys get up in the best players with a four quarter effort

Re: Do you want us to beat Melbourne?
What has Melbourne ever done for us?
Not that I bear grudges but...Their fans were very cocky after beating us
in the 2006 Elim Final, and beating us by 3pts in 2002 in what I think was Schwartz's
last game.
Give them nothing but our kind regards.

Re: Do you want us to beat Melbourne?
Win, lose or draw against the weak knees this week, I'm sure we won't play well, because we haven't played well against this rabble for years, even though we've been beating them regularly, they just seem to drag our game down to their own level.
its time to make a name for yourself like you've never made before!

Re: Do you want us to beat Melbourne?
all i want is effort ... 4 qtr effort strong tackles strong attack on the ball and a never give up attitude ... if the Dees can match that and beat us then so be it but if we give our all and play as hard as we did for long peroids in most of the games this year , we will beat the dee's

Don't think its who finishes higher on the ladder, saints or demons, that will hurt the drafing position. it will be whether the AFL award a priority to pick. Don't won't to see your club finish bottom 4 and another club jump a extra pick in the draft.
I think the Gold Coast and GWS have already activated mid-first round compo picks, so when you add possible free agency compo picks the first and second round picks start to get futher down the list.
