Re: Top 10 saints of the past 25 years.
Surprised so many have Gehrig.
Let's face it - he was a great character, and obviously loved by team mates and supporters alike, but top 10?
Lockett
Roo
Harvey
Hayes
Winmar
Loewe
Burke
Hudghton
Fisher
Milne
I'd almost have Dal in there somewhere as well

No Milney! Third highest goalkicking small forward of all time. Surely above Dal or Aussie. Subjective stuff I know and I may be just a little biased regarding Milney. Would also have Max in there. One of the best full backs to have gone around.

Re: Top 10 saints of the past 25 years.
Geez...not a lot of love for Stewie in this thread.
I reckon the most underated player in my time. The most dominant contested mark the game has ever seen. 321 games playing the hardest position on the ground, club captain, all Australian, leading goal kicker,B+F winner,EJ Whitten medallist, etc, etc. Tore countless games to shreds

Re: Top 10 saints of the past 25 years.
Ok still surprised that Maxy isn't rated more and funny thing even before reading Bratys post I was thinking what about Aussie! Another one that I reckon is a good pub debate is Bakes. Also agree with Moods comment too re Gehrig, great bloke and loved him when he was playing but not sure about top 10 in the past 25. Spose it's all up for debate.

Re: Top 10 saints of the past 25 years.
I can't be bothered doing it but Lockett was a gun and the greatest goal kicker of all time. Harves, Loewe were well ahead on skill and dominance than Burkey. Gherig was a great player and I would definitely have him in somewhere. Max was a very good player as was Frawley but it might be a defender bias but probably wouldn't put them in. Fisher would come close to both IMO.
milney would get a run in mine as would Winmar.

Re: Top 10 saints of the past 25 years.
IMO:
1: Lockett: incredible footballer enough said
2: Harvey: people easily forget how good Harves was. Even before his groin troubles.
3: Riewoldt: Would be at number 2 if he was a little more accurate in front of the sticks
4: Hayes: Champion of the club. Makes others walk taller
5: Loewe: Ahh, big stewie. So so underated. Kicked 90 or so goals one season and could play in the ruck.
6: Fisher: Another who is underated. Best and fairest winner, hardly ever played a bad game, very good player
7: Winmar: My favourite player, inconsistency drops him down a tad. Would be an AFL great had he played for a big '4' club
8: Burke: Put his body on the line week after week. Ablett putting him down in 91 may have cost us a flag
9: Milne: Polarises people, I regard him as an Etihad specialist but over the last 6 or so seasons has been good elsewhere. 560 goals as a small forward says it all.
10: Dal Santo: A reason why he gets tagged every week. Polled in the brownlow, b&f etc. Very good player
