Happy to look at any able bodied defender at the moment and wouldn't be unhappy with us making a play for Brown but would be really unhappy if we were to give up what we were intending to give up during the last trade period . He's just not that good and he's injury prone.....

The only backmen I would pay overs for would be harry taylor. But no chance there.bobmurray wrote:Would you pay overs for him...some idiots on here would...ROLS-LEE wrote:From what I saw of brown was ok but he really wasnt tested.

Re: Mitch brown will come to us
I sat behind goal and I thought he was heaps faster than I realised. Kept Rooey pretty honest when near him. I think he's a proper gorilla defender and would shine when we played teams like NM and collingwood who's big forwards have given us grief. I was actually laughing with my 7 yo about the height differential with Cox and Gwilt tonight when the game started. It highlighted the problems our defenders face ATM. Roberton was our tallest back and he is a running rebounder.

Re: Mitch brown will come to us
We will get him. But he will cost us nothing except the spot on our list and the space in our salary cap. He will move back to melbourne at seasons end and we will sign him up as a out of gontract free agent the same way we signed roberton. W.C. will get nothing. Beautiful

Exactly the same way I see the situation unfolding.southernsaint wrote:We will get him. But he will cost us nothing except the spot on our list and the space in our salary cap. But that leads into how much? And who gets delisted to make space on the list for him?
If we did make him an offer I would think it could be a 3 year deal to make the move worth his and his partners time to relocate.
Is he worth a 3 year deal? Don't know.
Would he come over for a 2 year contract? No imo.
We have made our intentions clear about the need for another quality mid, so we will most likely go full bore in that area. Does that restrict what we have to play with re Brown? I don't believe so.

Re: Mitch brown will come to us
I don't think salary cap wise that Brown would impact us. We will have front loaded some of this years re-signed players to clear space for next year, plus Kosi and a couple of others will go at the end of this year. You would think that whoever we get on as a FA from now on we will be able to front load their first year and make it very appealing to them. Front loading year one makes a three year contract a lot easier as well. You would think if any player is appealing enough for us to want to chase them, then a three year contract wouldn't be an issue.AccidentallyTim wrote:Exactly the same way I see the situation unfolding.southernsaint wrote:We will get him. Would be good to snare him for nothing. Get frawley cheaply and load up on mids in the draft.
I know im dreaming but you never know. We will probably pay overs for one of them.

Re: Mitch brown will come to us
If he does come to us, I hope we don't pay him more than 250k pa... He is hardly worth that, let alone the 350k being thrown around last trade time..

We need him to walk from the dees and nominate us as preferred choice. Then we can screw melb like Collingwood did to us. Otherwise will cost arm and leg to get

Why would he nominate us ? unless its for money and that means he wont come cheap.ROLS-LEE wrote:evo wrote:Not going to get Frawley cheaply.ROLS-LEE wrote:Would be good to snare him for nothing. Get frawley cheaply and load up on mids in the draft.

Midfield clearances and clear winners are needed to make an effective forward line.
You need to protect the ball handler to increase posession efficiency

What makes you think he will be at the Saints? He might follow Koby Stevensto the Bulldogs with the lure of more money.southernsaint wrote:Well he is victorian so its a come home factor as well. I believe he barracked for us as a kid, like Ball did with Collingwood. Im not saying its going to happen, and he probably wont go anywhere.
Just be stoked if it did and start to believe that this pelchin guy knows what he is doing as our future is in his hands.

Could prove valuable as a diving coach. After spending so much time with the best in the business he could teach our mids a few things about headbutting people in the shins and flailing your head about in agony.

This has been written a few times, I'm quite sure Ball barracked for Hawthorn, and wanted to be drafted by them.ROLS-LEE wrote:
