Yes, mrs montagna, lets compare him with Ablett and Judd

Should he cop flak for missing the shot? Absolutely!

Should he be insulted like he is by a couple of posters? No, he should not. He is a St Kilda champ and most would consider him underrated not over. And selfish, Milne can be called selfish (not complaining he was great today), dont think Montagna falls in that category

Its a shame he missed it, he has been our best player along with Roo all year. We wouldn't have been in a position to win without him. its just typical of the year we are having, we just don't take our chances.

Should have kicked it - didn't - shot was most likely right decision rather than handball over the top - just didn't execute - should have but didnt

That's right, even the very best players stuff up. Joey is on track for his 3rd AA… probably our most consistent player over the last 5-6 years… not sure what your grudge is.

Roo's miss from 1.6m out in the last qtr after having 3 goes at it was probably easier. Either of them kick it and we win. There must be a reason for this. Karma maybe. It may be better long term that they both embarrasssed themselves. One higher draft pick may be important.

No. It was a poor decision from the outset. the % thing to do was handball over the top to TWO saints players. Makes it an absolute certain goal. It was a selfish poor decision. Does that make him a selfish poor player? No way. He was great tonight and has been for the past 8 years.

If he'd kicked the goal it would have only been a selfish decision that came off. You take that on, you wear the criticism if it doesn't come off. If he had no other options, it would have been just a poorly executed kick.

He is one of the most overrated players because his decision making has always been poor. If there is a bad option - he'll choose it. His running is fantastic.

Riewoldt Shot easier?!

A 6'5" key fwd running back to the square, with the ball dribbling in the same direction toward the post with pressure from behind... And that's easier than a midfielder running into goal, directly in front 15m out??

How do you figure that out???

Soda. And he had 3 different opportunities to kick that goal.

They obviously didn't see it can be the only answer. The ball was actually screwing away to his left and to the advantage of his opponent. All it needed was a fair bounce. But we know never to expect that.

and people look at his dreamtime pooints and all is good with him.
It those moments that decides games, the A grade players take those opportunities and make them their own, consistently.
Yeah, players miss goals, then moments later they grab the game by the scruff and nail it...or
you get one more chance - only to bomb it into a crowded outnumbered forwardline instead of holding possession and working it in

Credit to Milne in this regard tonight, fluffed a big moment, then managed to go the old 7 point play.

99% of the time Joey would kick that. He is not a selfish player but his indecision in the heat of the moment caused a poor kick. I am not so sure that trying to handball it over someone running at him would have ended any better. Bad kick at a crucial time of the game doesn't necessarily make it a selfish decision.

Agree. Whatever it was( and I have expressed my opinion about Joey's decision making), it wasn't selfishness. That was quite obvious at the game, but I don't know how it came over on TV. We missed a lot of gettable goals from set shots almost directly in front - five in fact.

Why don't you just try and comment on the footy for a change. You probably can't but give it a go. I'll promise not to laugh.
