According to Barrett
According to Barrett on the footy show we are the ones chasing Frawley the hardest. Interesting to see if anything comes from it.

Re: According to Barrett
So we should be.
He is exactly what we need and we should have the space in the cap to pay him well with the bonus that he will be a virtual auromatic selection unless injured. I really hope we can snag him

Re: According to Barrett
Considering he wants to leave Melbourne because he is "sick of losing", we may need to chase pretty hard.
Lance or James??

Re: According to Barrett
Need to look at something more realistic. I'd be furious if they gave up a top pick for him.

Re: According to Barrett
Love to get him but we must not use pick 3, maybe 21 but would the demons accept that
I love this club
Re: According to Barrett
It would take our first pick which will be 3-5. And then i doubt he would want to come to a side in probably no better position next year than the side he plays for this year. He is contracted so we now how hard they are to get. No thanks at the pick probably required.

Re: According to Barrett
Demons may have little choice to trade in fear of losing him for nothing at the end of next season.

Re: According to Barrett
Realistically we'd need to somehow get hold of a pick around 10-15 because pick 3 is too much and pick 21 not enough.

Can I ask why he would want to come to us?

You would probably have to ask him. He may or may not want to come we may be able to offer him a long term deal who knows.

Yes we can offer pretty much what melbourne can offer. We probably havent reached our lows and melbourne probably have. it is illogical he would leave a contract with them to come to us and if he does its likely costing us pick 3. If we do that then i really worry about his brain and our club.
Re: According to Barrett
At a guess I suspect just getting out of the basket case that is Melbourne would be his primary objective. You can't judge our football environment to Melbourne's by only looking at ladder positions. There's a lot more to consider. I also suspect we would have a lengthy and sizeable contract in front of him.plugger66 wrote:Old Mate wrote:Realistically we'd need to somehow get hold of a pick around 10-15 because pick 3 is too much and pick 21 not enough.

Re: According to Barrett
If there is even a hint that he'll leave, we won't win the potential bidding war?

Could we be chasing him the hardest because we are the ONLY team chasing him? !!Pureoctain wrote:According to Barrett on the footy show we are the ones chasing Frawley the hardest. Interesting to see if anything comes from it.

Uncle...Not Dad.
Otherwise he'd already be at the club under the F/S rule.

Re: According to Barrett
I don't want us to trade any picks under 25, I will go feral if we give up a top ten pick for anyone less than a Fyfe/Dangerfield type which of course isn't going to happen.
Frawley will be 25 this year, may only have 4-5 years of good footy in him, and although we do need a FB, I'd rather we invest in 10 year players at this stage.

Exactly. Lets forget him and anyone over 23 IMO at this stage we are in.dragit wrote:I don't want us to trade any picks under 25, I will go feral if we give up a top ten pick for anyone less than a Fyfe/Dangerfield type which of course isn't going to happen.

Re: According to Barrett
Interesting that just the other day Watters was quoted as saying that anyone over 26 is probably not the profile we need to recruit, and Frawley just happens to turn 25 this year.........

Re: According to Barrett
We would need to offer a first rounder for him.
If we were challenging sure it makes sense but where we are at the moment we are better off taking a couple of years of pain and stack up on kids.
Using a first rounder on an experienced player has no value to us as we already have the players to mentor the youngsters.
He is the sort of player GC should chase or maybe Carlton. They both have a great midfield but add an All-Australian Key defender to that would strengthen them no end.

Re: According to Barrett
If we seriosuly give up a top 10 pick for him, i'll lose respect for Pelchen and co, we could have had Brodie Grundy & Jesse Lonergan with picks 12 & 13 last year theres our ruckman and clearance machine right there!, so please don't f**k this one up, I know its about maximising your picks as in giving our selves a better chance at securing top talent but lets just back in Elshaugh and co
