Re: Blake
He will give his all. Handballing to the oppsition, punching the ball when he could mark it, kicking to the opposition.
Blake....no.

I say yes for structural purposes. Clearly we have no one else.ralphsmith wrote:He will give his all. Handballing to the oppsition, punching the ball when he could mark it, kicking to the opposition.
Blake....no.
Even fisher was giving away holding on frees.

He could do no worse than Fisher down back at the moment.
Fisher has been caught out for weeks with more jumper holds and obstructing with the forwad in a one on one tussle, and losing him on the lead than Blake. Too many excuses have been made for Fisher IMHO. He hasn't been putting in hard enough IMO. At least with the Blake, he tries 100% all the time. Can pinch hit in the ruck at times if need be.
Fisher to me is starting to look as if he is adopting Goddard's attitude of 18 moths ago. He really needs to put in more and alter his defeatist body language, definitely not giving leadership to the young guys down back at the moment.

Re: Blake
After watching him at Sandy yesterday, I can safely say Neil has put the cue in the rack. I'm not having a go at him, but I think his body is past it.luc1966 wrote:Ok we'll we are going to get a touch up anyway so let's play Blake at FB for rest if the year and work on finding someone next season. Old enough to repaint, but young enough to sell

Re: Blake
JB has been a really good servant for the club in the last decade or more. It's sad to see him fade away into the Magoos. I wish he went with more dignity and retired after last year.

Re: Blake
P.S. When JB handballed out of the goal square for a kick-out during the Richmond game, it was his "Sayonara!" right there.

Re: Blake
It wouldn't surprise me to see Blake back in at some stage. It would only be for structural purposes - put a mature body in defence to allow Stanley to go forward where he could be a gun. Simpkin should get first crack though.

Re: Blake
We have no option but to play Simpkin and see how well he can develop. To play Blake to plug a gap, may have seem an option, but it would be a big backward step for the team and where we now sit. We no option but to play the younger guys. Wins don't matter, it's a question of giving 100% effort every week.

Re: Blake
He would have realised he was only hanging around for depth. As soon as we missed out on Nathan Brown, he was pretty quickly given a one year deal. He will continue to be backup for the remainder of the season, but thats all.Bernard Shakey wrote:I believe he was asked to play on.Sainternist wrote:JB has been a really good servant for the club in the last decade or more. Re: Blake
Stanley must stay forward.
So someone else needs to go back instead.

Makes me wonder what the selection panel are thinking sometimes.
Simpkin has been injured and hasnt played for a few weeks so it wasnt a question of Simpkin or Ferguson.

Agree,Simpkin injured anyway, good send off to a loyal saints man.
Plenty of experience there too.
Plus everyone can bag him out instead of Kosi....
100 goals in 14 games...Lockett is the key
