Re: Whose Up For A Clearance
Time to get fair dinkum about McEvoy. Great around the ground, but an ordinary tap ruck at best and he's beyond the point of being a "developing" ruckman.
Bad management is bad management

Re: Whose Up For A Clearance
How the hell can we lose the centre clearance count 43-26. Our midfield coach has a lot to answer for in terms of our structure. Against carlton in the last qtr we had 3 players in at the centre bounce, and tonight we let Matthew Boyd run riot to end up with 38 touches. We decided to tag griffen with jones, but let boyd do all the damage, would you not think as a coaching group you would put someone on to him. Mac plays his best footy when he is rucking one out and getting a chop out. Tonight the dogs went in with small fwds, and we could have had another small in and left Hickey out. We would have then allowed Rhys to play half in the backline and then in the ruck. We just dont appear to be a fit side, we are constantly being out run in the last qtr.

Re: Whose Up For A Clearance
The Bulldogs' clearance advantage was greater than their hitout advantage. Blaming Ben is a giant reach. We were -36 on the ground. We got crushed there. We haven't had a tap ruck since the 02 trade period and I dare anybody to find me a game where we got smacked as hard at the clearances and ground level.
Yeah nah pleasing positive

Re: Whose Up For A Clearance
Big Mac just frustrates me with his tap work. I would play Hickey over him as he is at least athletic enough. Fisher should be CHF, Rhys ruck resting forward, Jackson Fergasm needs to go to FB and just get games. Try Mcevoy forward anything that is better than that.

Let me guess..... we are rebuilding and played a more senior side with experience ??? Cause a midfield containing Dal Santo, Montagna, Hayes, Steven and Jones is inexperienced??
Nup
It was all the umpires fault??

The umpires are rebuilding??

Maybe....just maybe..... We don't have the right set ups? The right talent sitting in the coaching box??
I think Watters is a developer who NEEDS help tactically and we aren't helping him
What a disgraceful performance.
I don't need to as I never said he was any good. Show me were I said that?
I really don't remember your posts btw.

Clearances are not what todays footy is about. It's all about turnovers and keeping possession. How many games have Geelong won the clearances in?
Old enough to repaint, but young enough to sell

Thats true but I dont think the Cats get smacked in the middle by sides who have won 1 game from their last 19 like we did tonight????Bernard Shakey wrote:Clearances are not what todays footy is about. Re: Whose Up For A Clearance
In terms of winning and clearing the ball from ruck contests I cannot ever recall a worse midfield performance than what was dished up tonight.vacuous space wrote:The Bulldogs' clearance advantage was greater than their hitout advantage. Absolutely smashed.
If we did occasionally win some ball, it was ineffective.

Could it be that Macca has been poorly coached his whole career?

Re: Whose Up For A Clearance
Some basic set up issues at stoppages. Boyd on the defensive side of each stoppage and in particular, each centre bounce completely open his own and allowed to position himself as he wished? -outcome - masses of very telling centre clearances. This issue was apparent by quarter time, yet at no stage was there anything done about it.
Also, why, in the Bulldogs' forward line, was there a spare Bulldogs player left free in the centre corridor to receive a handball from the stoppage in almost every forward line stoppage - result - about 5 goals to the Bulldogs. This is such basic stuff that is done in the under 18 competition.

Re: Whose Up For A Clearance
Well thats apparently, according to St Trav, cause we have the best in the business in Dean Laidley in charge of our mids..........same guy who looked after Port so well last year........amazing how theyve gone since they cleaned out a bunch of coaching duds.cwrcyn wrote:Some basic set up issues at stoppages. Re: Whose Up For A Clearance
Hitouts don't correlate with clearances which don't correlate with wins. Ben's really good at things that matter, so if there's an 'excuse' for him, it's that. BS is right, he probably won't ever be a tap ruckman. It probably won't ever matter either.bobmurray wrote:he's only young is the ongoing excuse on here...

Re: Whose Up For A Clearance
Them why not stick a midget in at the centre bounce? simply forfeit every tapout.....it doesnt matter right?vacuous space wrote:Hitouts don't correlate with clearances which don't correlate with wins. I find that strange...sure, it may not decide the final clearance but you have to wonder what damage a good ruck who can out it to advantage can do.
