Out of form forward line hidden by Roo
Until this week.
Roo blinded us to it perhaps?
Maister leading to the same place as Roo, Saad devoid of confidence, Milneys mind is strong but the body can't keep up, Tez looking better than VFL but not quite fitting in.
Time to find some semblance of structure.
Dunnel to get a crack, liked Siposs forward last week not sure why we didn't go with that, Kos at least dragging defenders away from Roo...not too him.

Yep. Never understood the interest in Maister. He's just a backup and gap filler I supposeShanghaiSaint wrote:sorry i hate bagging players but.... tonight Maister was usless.
Re: Out of form forward line hidden by Roo
At least we now kick more goal under Watters so losing is at least bearable.
Re: Out of form forward line hidden by Roo
Effort was there but led the defenders to Roo, takes years for talls to form cohesion, those two don't have it yet...Roo had two on him most of he night but one wore RWBShanghaiSaint wrote:sorry i hate bagging players but.... tonight Maister was usless.

Re: Out of form forward line hidden by Roo
4 of our 5 forward were terrible tonight and have pretty much been the same all year. It's not working. Where is plan B? God help us if Roo goes down.
I give up on suggesting Saad needs a spell. It was obvious 5 Weeks ago. What would I know.

Re: Out of form forward line hidden by Roo
he does try I agree but he dosn't demand the ball enough or go into space. he's not tall enough or big enough to camp in the GS and think he will pluck it.. Roo bar a few bad kicks played well and looked for the ball. i don't know what the answer is now but crows were all over our forwards and knew what they would do.. made it a real hard one to watch.SainterK wrote:Effort was there but led the defenders to Roo, takes years for talls to form cohesion, those two don't have it yet...Roo had two on him most of he night but one wore RWBShanghaiSaint wrote:sorry i hate bagging players but.... tonight Maister was usless.

Re: Out of form forward line hidden by Roo
Our fwd line has been a worry for awhile I reckon. If Roo doesn't fire and kick goals/create them, then we seem to have no hope of kicking them. Winning papers overs everything, and I was very worried last week with our fwd line. The week before against the pies the same.
Saad looked like he could be anything last year. Milera had potential but needed work - instead they have both gone backwards. Milne just isn't playing well at the moment, although he was a bit better tonight. His second goal was just a Joe the Goose that would have been kicked anyway if it wasn't an advantage from a play on.
Stanley has to play back, but really, he is the ideal foil for Riewoldt. Is tall, can run and can take a grab.
We desperately miss the creativity of Schneider - but after seeing what other players clubs are coping without it's really no excuse.....

Re: Out of form forward line hidden by Roo
Siposs last week seemed to balance out the forward line?
Yet we sub him to sweep the backline.
We need to decide on the structure and stick to it, only rotating the personnel.

Re: Out of form forward line hidden by Roo
The three small forward don't do something very important.... If they did a 2/3 forward line might work....
We don't have a good secondary target ala Tom Lynch....
If I were SW I'd be asking the small forwards about their defensive games....

I agree. Maister's selection was very puzzling and costly.SainterK wrote:Siposs last week seemed to balance out the forward line?

Maister needs to be instead of Hickey, or Kosi...all fighting for that spot now perhaps?bigcarl wrote:I agree. Maister's selection was very puzzling and costly.SainterK wrote:Siposs last week seemed to balance out the forward line?

Re: Out of form forward line hidden by Roo
I don't think it was hidden at all… Been lots of talk about Milne, Saad, TDL, Kosi, Lee, Hickey all being very ordinary this year.
Maister needed to come back through the VFL surely? Can't understand bringing straight back like that…
Surely we can have a look at Shenton & Curren this week?

Forward Line Tackles
Saad 1
Milera 1
Hickey 0
Riewoldt 0
Milne 0
Maister 0
2 tackles from our forwards in total. There's not enough pressure.

It isnt but how many did Adelaide get?
Re: Out of form forward line hidden by Roo
Rutten would have loved the Maiser selection.... A good match up for him.

I missed you saying that BEFORE the game.

Was it me, or was quite a lot of the entry shallow?noob wrote:Forward Line Tackles

I like it kicked a bit deeper where they have a chance to compete after a failed mark.

I agree with this, whether it be next game or later in the year.dragit wrote:Surely we can have a look at Shenton & Curren this week?
And also Ledger to get some consecutive games.
That way, they'll either show enough, and stay on the list next year, or not enough - and they're gone.
The years already a write off, so we may as well see who's up to it.

Re: Out of form forward line hidden by Roo
Good point sainter k,trying to get that that balance back, seems impossible ATM.
Sipposs should be playing every game, don't understand why he's not.
Small forwards are really out of sorts ATM.
Maybe Rhys's can get a spell up forward.
If Roo gets injured what happens?

100 goals in 14 games...Lockett is the key
Re: Out of form forward line hidden by Roo
Stanley forward and Simpkin back. Or has Stanley been pigeonholed now?
STRENGTH THROUGH LOYALTY.
