PRESTIA on our radar!

He would be a good pick up and would compliment our midfield stocks but I think we need a large bodied mid to replace Lenny in the mould of Kennedy or Watson who are also strong overhead. Perhaps Daniel Markworth is that ? But watching him in the two's he looked more like a natural CHF.

Re: PRESTIA on our radar!
Be great if we can add a quality young player that has already had 3 years of development in the system - that's one of the ingredients to fast-tracking regeneration of our list.

Re: PRESTIA on our radar!
175cm inside player, bit of a Joey replacement (even though Joey plays a bit outside), geez i wish he was a bit taller tbh..
His draft summary
9. DION PRESTIA
(Calder Cannons, 18, 174cm, 82kg)
Midfielder with pace and power off the mark, as well as a thumping kick. Knows how to work his way through traffic.
"Prestia's disposal was good this year actually in the TAC Cup, can kick the ball off both feet and is just as dangerous inside as he is outside. "
"The postive with Prestia is his disposal, especially below his knees, his negative is his height and will really only ever be a ruck rover."
COMPARISON - Daniel Kerr

Re: PRESTIA on our radar!
Get him!! Fits the profile of the type we need to repair our list. The competition for him would be considerable, if he was to hit the open market. Might have to give up a bit to land him.
I started with nothing and I've got most of it left!

Every other team will go hard at him too. We want to keep up the development while being competitive to offer an environment that is attractive to outsiders. the only thing we have over other teams is opportunity and hope for the future.

So SC doesn't matter nowdays?
Lance or James??

It's about what we can offer- we may have to give up the number 6 pick or something equal for him. It might be that he isn't worth missing out on a better kid although we need some in his age bracket. A team with pick 14 or so might think he's value than what will be left at that point.

Re: PRESTIA on our radar!
If the team keeps playing like it has in the last three weeks and we keep building in excitement with our development then attracting players might not be as hard as it seems. Aaron Hamil and G Train came to us when we were at the bottom of the ladder but they could see where the club was going. I don't think we are looked at the same way as we were 10 to 20 years ago. The club at most levels is managed very professionally and we also seem to be able to manage our finances better these days.

Only a 3rd year player.
What happens if he is out of contract and doesn't sign a new contract?

BT would love to have Big Boy McEvoy, Steven the boy from Lorne/Geelong Falcons Football Factory, and Prestia the Human Meatball all in one side!
Re: PRESTIA on our radar!
They delist him and he can nominate for the National Draft or the Pre-Season Draft or both. He specifies his wage expectations and any club with a pick can get him.True Believer wrote:What happens if he is out of contract and doesn't sign a new contract?
If he's any good you'd expect him to go before pick 20, probably before pick 10 in the ND. If he holds out until the PSD then that would be more likely, but surely Melbourne will still have a pick before us.

He then go in the pre season draft so we would have no hope. we need to trade for him. At least we are now talking players who can play and are a real chance. I reckon it would need to be a player like gilbert and a second rounder. GC need more Gilberts age now that they are coming good.

Re: PRESTIA on our radar!
Reckon we will have a crack at both Prestia and Rich hoping we get one.
Neither is worth Pick 6 (or whatever we get) but yeah Pick 24 + Gilbo could work for both parties.

Re: PRESTIA on our radar!
Prestia is an ideal target & the type of player that GC won't let go for free into the PSD.
We will be in the position to offer him a nice contract & hopefully convince him that St Kilda is a place where he will get opportunity (much like how Tom Hickey was convinced to nominate us as his preferred club). Speaking of Hickey, I've heard through the grapevine that he was an exceptionally popular bloke at GC & looked upon as a future leader by his peers. Hopefully that reputation will be useful in convincing a few of his former teammates that a career in red, white & black is a great choice.
I agree with Plugger that GC will be looking for mature players in any trade. I hope it's not Gilbert personally... he's just too versatile & at an age that we can ill afford to lose. I don't think our first pick will be traded nor will our 2nd pick get the job done.... Maybe if the Dal beat up has some merit then they can package Prestia & their 2nd rounder.

Blake, Jones AND Gilbert for Prestia
Three starting 21 players for a player who hasnt even played 50 games :3

We arent trying to make them laugh. 2 out of those 3 would be free anyway.
Re: PRESTIA on our radar!
Perhaps we'll give them our first rounder (say #6) for Prestia and their second rounder (#25) - would something like that get it done?
Hird... The unflushable one is now... just a turd...

It probably would but i hope we dont give a first rounder for him. he is good player but i would hope you may eventually get better with pick 6.
