Centre Bounces
I'd prefer that we had 4 in the middle for centre bounces. On at least two occasions, in the last quarter we lined up with only 3.
Get it sorted.

Re: Centre Bounces
Thought our clearance work in the middle was much better this week - at least for the first 3 quarters. Also the ball wasn't coming out of our forward 50 as easily as previous weeks, which suggests our forwards were working hard to keep it in there. Actually our tackling and intensity all around the ground was very good for 3.25 quarters, which also resulted in some easy pickings for Fisher and company.

Was stunned to see just 3 line up in the middle for centre bounces ... junior footy stuff
AwayInUSA no longer ... have based myself back in Melbourne for a decade of Saintsational Success (with regular trips back to the USA)

Didn't catch that but was awesome and exciting to see for e.g: Hickey, Ross, Steven, Armitage and win clearances on a couple of occasions...
Re: Centre Bounces
Was it not because the extra player dropped back into defence?
That was my thinking behind it.

It was disorganised and quite disastrous. The second time was bad.
Especially in the last quarter when the Blues were on a roll and got another easy clearance out....

Give Scott a call and ask him to sort it before we play the Crows....Spinner wrote:BackFromUSA wrote:Was stunned to see just 3 line up in the middle for centre bounces ... junior footy stuff

Any chance an ex Saint will kick a bag on Sunday Night
How many defenders will The Saints pick in the 2024 draft ?
Re: Centre Bounces
And here I was thinking you were talking about the actual bounce of the ball
I'm sure there were 2 or 3 occasions that the ball actually bounced right out of the circle, I thought these were supposed to be recalled and thrown up. Is this just another rule which the maggots can pick and choose when they will apply?

It's a shame ignorance isn't painful

that could be a fair reason carlscum had it to their 50 so many times and so quickley in the 4th.BackFromUSA wrote:Was stunned to see just 3 line up in the middle for centre bounces ... junior footy stuff

Re: Centre Bounces
two of the last 3 centre bounces we only had 3in square
players were trying to get extra one in square.
once ump ready to bounce i dont think player can run in.

Re: Centre Bounces
Not the first game this season where there has been a big gap in the midfield at bounces where the opposition mids can get a clear run at the ball for a clearance- I thought they would have sorted this out by now, it's basic stuff.
