Ross tonight
He's done very well the last few weeks, but tonight I thought he was outstanding. I notice no one has him in their votes, which I find surprising. I know he's not overburdened with pace, but he has that wonderful ability to find the ball. He uses it effectively as well. Does anyone know what his stats were? Looked extremely comfortable and assured out there. Better sign him up again, as I'm sure the bummers and "Headjobe" will be sniffing around at year's end, if his current form continues.
I started with nothing and I've got most of it left!

Re: Ross tonight
Clean hands - doesn't fumble- good kick, good decision maker and will only improve from here
Re: Ross tonight
9 kicks, 12 h'balls, 6 marks, 6 tackles, and......1 HIT OUT. Agree, looking better with every game. Not sure his top speed is all that slow, more like slow acceleration IMO

I'm happy to say I got him wrong. He just needs to build his tank to run out games and spread a little better.
His efforts tonight were outstanding, tracking along a lot better than I expected. Happy to be wrong.

Re: Ross tonight
Actually reminds me of his cousin (with a slightly better shoe) - not quick, but gets where he needs to. Seems to have a lot of time. Strong body
Re: Ross tonight
A long way to go still but looks like he'll be a player. The only question is whether he ends up being a star, an A-grader or just a solid mid. Too soon to tell really - it's all about how much work he wants to do in the next few years.savatage wrote:I'm happy to say I got him wrong. Re: Ross tonight
Agreed but he's doing a lot more at afl level than I expected and for that I tip my hat.
Re: Ross tonight
I loved his work in close with some nice sneaky handballs and bone crunching tackles.

Real goer. Three solid showings in a row. What we need. Consistent improvement. Very exciting.

Re: Ross tonight
Loved him tonight and think
he is the clear standout of the new guys coming through.
It's important we have another 4 or 5 mids coming through with Steven and Armitage, and it looks like he is one of them.
Need Saunders Murdoch Ledger to come on as well.

Re: Ross tonight
There was a bloke named Greg Williams watching the match tonight. He was supposed to be pretty slow, too, but had quick hands and a quick brain. Ross might not be another Diesel (I wish!) but those appear to be two very improtant attributes they share.Ross who? wrote:9 kicks, 12 h'balls, 6 marks, 6 tackles, and......1 HIT OUT. Re: Ross tonight
thought he was really really good tonight
noticed him a lot at the coventry end... did a lot of team things that don't go on the stat sheet... very composed young lad, out his body on the line
really liked his game

Re: Ross tonight
I just did my votes before I read this post, and I have Ross in there with one vote. That was the best game he's played for us IMO.
Could be a future a-grade inside mid, the type of player you don't notice much but and the end of the game you see he's had 30 touches.
Players he reminds me of: Nathan Burke, Luke Ball.
Definately a candidate to become a 200 gamer.

I was impressed by how strong he looked tonight.

Noticed this. Always great to see a younger guy back himself in. Seen it in spades with Roberton and Wright, good to see Ross start to feel comfortable enough to do things like this.terry smith rules wrote:sold a lovely bit of candy to Judd (I think) at one point
