The Bummers calling the kettle black...
In their forum Bummer fans trash our players, maybe they should look in their own backyard for thugs.
http://www.bomberblitz.com/forum/index. ... 0491&st=45
Bummers supporters are also the most dangerous as they will physically attack rival fans at games where other club supporters are mostly all mouth. Still furious about their sooky la la whinge when we kicked their backsides twice in 1978 (cost us a place in the finals & sponsorship)

Re: The Bummers calling the kettle black...
There is a lot of "False Bravado" amongst Essendon fans right now. I wonder if they will be as smug in August (or thereabouts) when ASADA deliver their findings? !!
NEW scarf signature (hopefully with correct spelling) will be here as soon as it arrives !!

I reckon there will be a lot of talk but no action with the Bummers, however, if it was St.Kilda , no doubt the penalties would be fearsome!

Yeah, but the AFL DON'T get the final say on this one. Also, I don't know who the ASADA Boss' kids barack for !!Furphy wrote:I reckon there will be a lot of talk but no action with the Bummers, however, if it was St.Kilda , no doubt the penalties would be fearsome!

“The AFL should simply ban Essendon for 2 seasons for bringing the game into disrepute and even our star chamber should have finished by then. Just for trying all these funny concoctions that were needled into the players is enough for the ban.
Mr Evans should lead the way through the gate..
Otherwise get ready for the biggest whitewash of all sporting history.
As a 68 year Essendon supporter I remember all those famous players who I am sure would be appalled at the current mess, a 4 year old listening on the neighbours wireless way back in 44.
I feel ill about it all.
To all the current supporters who will bag me think a bit. Right is the only way.”

Re: The Bummers calling the kettle black...
Certainly agree with that. Only time I ever felt physically unsafe at a football match was around Essendon supporters.Furphy wrote:they will physically attack rival fans at games where other club supporters are mostly all mouth.
What I don't really get is, why hasn't their history as a cheating club been brought to the fore. Doping is the last in a long line of cheating by Essendon - and particularly by Sheedy and Hird. It's in their blood.
- Salary Cap infringements in a premiership year
- Sheedy ties windsock down at Windy Hill so the opposition would not know which way the wind was blowing
- Sheedy plays two ruckmen against one
- James Hird's Essendon-Manchester-United merchandising allegiance
- The fake neutral shop inside Etihad Stadium where profits from merch of all clubs sold goes to Essendon
- Injecting players with substances that are illegal and/or not fit for human consumption
The list goes on and on and on. All of this comes under the moniker "institutionalised cheating" or doing anything and everything to gain an unfair advantage. WHat is clear is that both the league and the game would be better off without Essendon.

Re: The Bummers calling the kettle black...
Why does Essendon have such a large following compared to StKilda?
Is it just sustained success that breeds more interest? Collingwood haven't win many in 50 years, but still have a ridiculous following.

Re: The Bummers calling the kettle black...
No doubt their following is generational, as both clubs have been enormously successful from the outset of the competition. The fact that both teams have financial resources to bounce back quickly after a couple of quiet years helps also.dragit wrote:Why does Essendon have such a large following compared to StKilda?

Re: The Bummers calling the kettle black...
They are the nastiest supporters in the league, without doubt. I used to go to Victoria Park and I never had a peep of trouble, but when I went to Windy Hill I feared for my life. They were genuinely nasty and aggressive. That arrogance permeates throughout the whole club.

Re: The Bummers calling the kettle black...
When I lived Melbourne, the only supporters who were physically intimidating were the Bumbers.
The Pies, although feral, enjoyed the swearing and trash talk for what it was. Always at the end of a Pies game, even if we had won, Pies men who 5 mins earlier were being filthy, would shake our hands in good faith.
Bombers, on the other hand, had this attitude that how dare you criticise their players, & their club was somehow sacred.
Hate the lot of them. Evil evil evil.

A real Sainter will pledge allegiance to the ❤ and despise the Pies, the Blues, and the Injectors.

The club has admitted to employing spin doctors.

Re: The Bummers calling the kettle black...
Cwrcyn- correct. Victoria Park never had that feeling of dread. I'm only 5'6 but nobody ever ever threatened me or my mates there. It's like they don't mind the stuff that's said about them, they have thick skins. When I said something about one of their players, they didn't do a Tomic's dad on me, the reply was a return of serve without trying to blast me off the court (to use a tennis analogy).
Bombers fans - don't you dare celebrate a goal with "Go Milney" , your likely to get targeted as well as your mother's morals. Insecure they must be.

Re: The Bummers calling the kettle black...
Yep, the Pies supporters weren't any different from our own, and I felt very much at ease around them. There were some arrogant pricks at Carlton, but generally they were bearable. But Bomberland was a completely different experience. It was like they were just looking for someone to king hit. I'd never seen such a high concentration of openly hostile, nasty characters just looking to kick someone's head in. Because of that, they're the only team I truly despise. I'm with Dermott Brereton when it comes to Essendon.

Re: The Bummers calling the kettle black...
There is only two decades when the bombers have not won a flag. Their fans know they will see them win a flag that is why they are arrogant. Even Carlton and Pies have had long periods without a flag .
I too was thinking of 1978 today - remember they called us animals - and the cs had inflatable animals when we played them at Windy Hill and we smashed them all day.
Hope they cop a big whack for bringing the game into disrepute - however I feel the AFL will just sweep it under the carpet.
Hopefully there are enough journalists to pressure the AFL to issue justice on behalf of all the other Clubs.
If it was Saints how much support from the AFL would we have got. I think we all know the answer.

Re: The Bummers calling the kettle black...
Come to think of it, I was threatened with a punch to a head at a NON St Kilda game at Windy Hill, and it was by another female, which as naive 19 year old I found it to be a bit of a shock. Now I'd turn around and tell her to "off" Thankfully, the crowd was so packed no-one could move to throw any kind of punch and a few of the boy Bomber fans came to my defense.
One way to get right up thir nose is to remind them of how their supporters in the 70s referred to their team with a truely horrendous name "Bloodstained n*****" and they can deny until the couw come home but I heard that dreadful expression more than once out in the outer.

Re: The Bummers calling the kettle black...
Essendon. FFS. Almost the same level as the Filth. We can never win an arguement with any of their supporters as well as most other clubs supporters. There is one reason, and one reason only. Until we fix the problem we will just have to suck it up and cop it like we've done for the past 40 odd years.

Re: The Bummers calling the kettle black...
I wait with great anticipation and interest on
the outcome of this unbelievable scenario at Essendon.
The ASADA WADA AND then maybe the AFL will make
a report and decision of what penalties they will receive.
If they are soft decisions this will only help me to lose
faith even more with our great game.
They need to make some real tough calls so this
does not happen again.
In saying all this we all know that it has become realyy
hard for all clubs to keep up. Since bringing in GWS AND GCS
the clubs are looking for that one leading edge to get
ahead of other clubs.
Ya can only blame the AFL for this, they are giving so much
to these two clubs and extra to Sydney as well, that all
the scraps are left for the other clubs to fight over.
We all know that not all players are innocent when it
comes to getting through the game and lining up for the next
one. It's tough, not only on the physical side of things
but the mental side as well. And yes they do get paid plenty
of money but ya have to make sure ya can keep ya
spot and perfom each week.
I am as passionate about this game as most of you guys are
but i am losinf interest fast

Coll are just better marketed, have always had an aura of success about them, supremely confident.
Ess ,dunno!Even when I was a kid,they were a big club,
Maybe sustained success breeds success.thats maybe our biggest downfall.

Re: The Bummers calling the kettle black...
An extremely arrogant club, always have been, and think they are important to the AFL
At the very least, they have soiled the game and certainly bought the game into disrepute.
How is this to be handled.
Why does the AFL chief take his son to a game with a bombers scarf on.
No conflict of interest there.
They should cop a fairly hefty penalty and lose premiership points at a minimum .
The storm took it up the bum,now it's Ess turn to get reamed.
If this was St.kilda, you can only just imagine the penalty.
We should start a petition to have this team to made accountable.
Certainly don't trust the afl boss to deliver an appropriate the sentence.
I would have rather seen Goodard go to Coll instead of those Rats......
