Don't any of you think that this was a disgraceful set of circumstances. IMO his contract was a disgrace and that responsibility lays at the feet of the Board.

THIS was the contract that he agreed to and signed?

You make a fundamental analytical flaw. Most coaches get sacked with a day's notice and get PAID OUT to the end of the contract. RL wouldn't only have been paid out for another 3 months.

Weird that there are people who are glad he's gone but angry he left.

Lyon acted bizarre during trade week 09 when we got a return of zero

For a former captain and B&F

Mismanagement

I don't believe that Lyon was calling the shots on the trading.

Most likely his call whether Ball stayed or left, but was the responsibility of others to get the deal done or not.

And let's not forget that Ball and his manager were happy to screw the Saints over in leaving us.....and Ball was happy to be paid overs early in his career by the Saints. A big part of why the deal did not get done was due to Ball and his manager being content to find and exploit a loophole, rather than progress a trade deal.

And if you believe the club insiders Ball "sulked" when it was put to him what he needed to do.

But didn't pick up a known drug addict - good management.

And before you come back with the obvious - Cousins was on the gear all through his career including with the Tigers, Lovett had not been charged with rape when the Saints picked him up.

You wanted Cousinf to be teamed with Gardiner once again, the media all over the Saints and a HUGE distraction.

Thankfully he didn't get his claws into the young blokes like Geary, Mac, Jack and Armo and introduce them to the wonderful world of ICE.

Cant believe it would have been good to have a KNOWN and CONFESSED drug fiend at our club with all his crim mates and influences.

Lance or James??

Don't you back our leaders in Joffa, they mustn't have been as good as the Tiges

Chris Newman and Co.

Compared to Lenny, Roo, Ball (that's right he was traded out?), Max.... No good??

BTW
The comment was about Ball..... Why redirect

I think Freo are clearly in front right now cause they arent having to rely on 5 players with than 11 games under their belts to step up and cover ordinary senior player performances from Milne/Dal/Fisher and Co.

That said I reckon Lyon has some real issues coming - Sandi, McPharlin, Pavlich aint getting younger ....all KPP and hard to replace....will be a big test and I dont reckon they can buy all replacements in FA. Lyon needs a flag in 2yrs or its bust with this current Freo list (still have solid young mids in Fyfe etc but holes KPP wise for mine). He'll have to goshopping I reckon - he wont wait for say a young ruckman to hit their straps...

Are we relying on 5 players under 10 games

I would suggest they are contributing

We would be relying more on Nick, Joey, Fisher, Dempster, Dal, Milney, Scnieder, Gwilt.... Who are the designated leaders

Some are injured.... Freo's got 5 bigger injuries
Some are playing really well.... Same at Freo

And SOME are coasting and not having a crack.... Not happening under Ross

Mid players ok at both clubs ..... Freo have a better GP for being more competitive and would never lose a game vs GC

Do Freo have a gaping hole in established 50 game players they are desperately trying to fill? Does that hole "increase" the reliance on our ageing stars? or does it mean they get the luxury of a more even performance load shared by mature bodies??

Right now I'd argue we are asking a lot more from our lessor experienced players than say a Freo cause we have no choice. Its fast track development time as we play draft catch up. Thats the difference.

I think he would have had a pretty large say on whether or not we accepted a deal or not... i think the coach has a very large in put into all of that

he just wouldn't direct involve himself in actually making the deal

Sliding doors if he had of traded Ball for just pick 30.

I would be here right now complaining how he let him go to a top 4 competitor for such an unworthy pick. Being a former captain and B&F. And that it cost us the flag...

Bet you probably would be too. That's the difference between us. Logic.

Spinner;

You and some of your fellow BM bashers think Tossco's farts are always pleasant smelling and without him the team wouldn't have been able to scale the heights. BM and the rest of us know that's BS!!

People forget you when you're out of the game and hopefully that'll sooner rather than later for Tossbag...What won't be forgotten is the efforts of our champion players and their determination and skill - I reckon tossbag stuffed up the best chance we had in over 40 years of my lifetime when the Saints were so dominant in 2009 with such an array of top ten talent.

Your hero is currently lauded as one of the best coaches going around and you bask in the glory of his achievements, but sadly he'll go down along side Stan Alves, Gary Ayres, John Northey and Neil Daniher and so many other very successful coaches of the past 20 years...who just couldn't climb the summit.
