Designated kicker?

Now that Goddard has gone and Gwilt is injured, we seem to be rotating the duties of kicking out from fullback, and during our Sydney game I noticed that Stanley, Dempster, and Fisher were sharing the duties. It's also noticeable that we are kicking long to contests more often than previously. To me, this is costing us goals. Is the issue the kicker, or the organisation of our players to release a player into space to receive the kick?

One thing that has changed this year as well is the shortened time to kick in (I think it is now 6 seconds) which makes it hard to set up like last year as previous. I think you will find more teams are kicking it longer, not just us.

Dal used to kick out regularly...

I'd be using him when possible.... Stanley can hit it long and flat, like Goddard, Sipposs

If Webster gets a guernsey in the ones soon, he could be one that does some of this job looking to the future.

Stanley has surprised me at how good a kick he is in from full back...he is very good.

Add that he can also at times play on with a dash of speed and you have a very good option to take the kick ins.

It's interesting that after Sipposs gave that cannon kick out straight to a Richmond player he wasn't used again (I think) and subsequently was out of the team. He doesn't yet have the skills to weight the kick well and seems to want to kick the cover off it everytime.

He is an exceptional spot up kick.... I think because he is one of those rare players who can get out the back of a press with depth of penetration, he's been instructed to use his big weapon... This sort of instruction can end up in the forefront of a young players thinking and consume them....

Could be right but what I saw in the Richmond game made me feel he still needs better vision. he will get there though.

I have not had too many concerns with stanley, I am not surprised that Roberton has come into the side and already is used a lot, Sipposs is a good strong kick & will continue to get better.
I did watch NDS get intercepted for a goal against the swans...

I think you'll find if you watch training, Arryn is the best field kick in the team.... His vision and creativity are not that of Dal and Schnieds.... But as a pure kick... He is elite.

Poor kicks from him are generally a result of poor decisions made.

Gilbert, Jones, Steven and Gram were just technically poor licks

I'm worried that Sippos is becoming the new Gram. His best is very good but he shanks a lot of kicks as well.

He needs some more games/time and good coaching to develop further. His decision-making needs to improve a lot, but only games/time will deliver that.

Jones grip is too far around the front of the ball. Loses control of the ball in the drop.

Gram was never a good kick, just bombs away. Arryn is nothing like that he can actually kick.

Lucas, Knights, Birchall, Guerra, Simpson, Clarke, Myers..... Etc

I could list 50 left footers who rarely use there right, and often 90% of the time hey don't have to, because a defender instinctively goes right... It's why left footers seem to have more time and space to kick well and why most lefties seem like better kicks... They've grown up kicking with more time and space

Jones, Gilbert are flawed

In fact it is rare to see anyone use their non preferred nowadays.... Even someone like BJ who can be dual sided (Mitchell an exception) ... It was more of a trend in the 90s when quick ball movement was more important than possesion
