Players to target at the end of the season
Hey guys heard something interesting today and got me thinking. Apparently Mitch browns manager will be actively talk with the saints about coming over at the end of the year which would be great. Big is a long way away.
But got me thinking on which disgruntled players to target
1. Mitch brown wc doesn't get enough games will come back to vic.
2. Sam blease awesome player but the coach obviously doesn't like him he is in and out all the time I think we could get a bargain here he's only 22!
3. James frawley great defender not sure availability but apparently doesn't want to stay at a losing club his whole career. He has been there 6 years this is his. 7th just what we need hopefully steal him!
Any other suggestions feel free to add

Re: Players to target at the end of the season
I wouldn't even trade for Mitch Brown and just get him in the draft. West Coast won't have any option but to give him away if he wants out. Sam blease isn't a bad choice.. I think in the phantom drafts he was one to picked up by the saints.

Re: Players to target at the end of the season
I don't know what to make of Mitch Brown, I watched him on Foxtel in the games he played for the eagles and he didn't look like anything special..
I hope he's worth the effort if we go for him...
BTW, apparently you can gain great insights watching games on the idiot box.....

How many defenders will The Saints pick in the 2024 draft ?

Re: Players to target at the end of the season
Three very reasonable suggestions. Blease is lightning fast and can kick goals, and I can't fathom why he's considered not good enough to get a game at the moment. Brown is an obvious one and it'll be interesting to see if he still wants to come to us. Often theses things don't work out. I'm concerned what we might give up for him, though.
Frawley would be no chance, I'd say, seeing he's contracted to the end of 2014, but he'd be a fantastic get.
The troubling thing for us at the moment is that we're seen as a team on the decline, so attracting players from other clubs will be a challenge. The dearth of 196cm+ defenders is a problem across most clubs, so picking up anyone who can competently hold down a key defensive position will be a huge bonus. As for midfielders, GWS have them in over supply, so it'd be worth a look at their list to see what's available.

Re: Players to target at the end of the season
I think Taylor Adams would be a gettable target and Luke Parker would b great
Hopefully get Mitch brown in free agency and think dale Thomas too, we need to spend money on some player, gonna have a lot of cash
Other Talls to look at are Ben griffiths , lauklan Keith and Tom lynch from the Gold Coast

Re: Players to target at the end of the season
Neither was Roberton stk can get Brown if he remains uncontracted if they want him.
suggestion that we pay overs for stars won't happen .Hence the Goddard decision .
So guys like Polec / Karnezis at Brisbane are a chance because they are uncontracted and saints can offer them better $
going forward because of the Goddard ,Gram, Kosi , have lots of guys on even $ throughout list no exceptions.
Signs are good everyone just have to be patient.

Good call on griffiths I think he could anything but if he struggles to hold down a spot at tigers something is wrong. But I could wrong I'd take him if the price was right.
I think if we get a top 10 pick I would look maybe trading it to gc or gws. Both have a ridiculous ammount of talls hopefully broker a good deal. I real like Tom lynch of gc and also Thompson. But they won't trade either both freaks. I think Thompson might be the modern day CHB. I'm sure our recruiting staff will find some great players they have been on fire the last three years! An they have a whole year to prepare after missing out on key backs last year. Looking forward to it!
GO SAINTS!

Re: Players to target at the end of the season
WCE's decision not to trade Brown was just plain bizarre... esp with the rumored deal on the table
they must rate him really really highly
either way, it looks like they're going to lose him for less now

I agree with Plugger. Mids Mids and more Mids. Inside, outside great skills and goal kickers. We need more of all.plugger66 wrote:saintjake wrote:Yes!Cairnsman wrote:We should throw the kitchen sink at Charlie Dixon.

So we can rest some forward and rotate through the centre.
With the interchange rotations being limited in the future, we will need more mids.

Re: Players to target at the end of the season
people say mids mids mids and more mids. i think we have drafted plenty although we may need some more ans crocker cripps and maybe ledger haven't worked out. i think top priority two key defenders no older then 26 idealy one mid 20's and one out of the draft because it takes 4 years atleast to adapt to afl.
you have to ask yourself if u want a michael hurley/harrytaylor both mid top ten picks or go for more mids i think by the time we develope more key defenders we can get mids into the system they take 2-3 years and they will peak all at the same time. but someone will point out pick the best player first which is the right thing to do i am just say if there is a 50/50 split over two players i want key defenders. not many dud top ten defenders in the last 5-7 years.
and on the mid topic u dont really want outside mids they arent what they use to be u need more jack steven types who can run and play inside and kick goals aren't many aorund but that is the type we need.
i hope lee is turns out to be a very good key forward but i want to pick up a gorilla in the draft someone the size of patton love it if they had his ability also lol

As much as we need quality mids (along with tall defenders) if we even consider going after a soft front runner like Daisy Thomas that will be it for me

Re: Players to target at the end of the season
Think at the end they were prepared to do a 3 way deal with Essendon for someone there. But the Essendon guy got cold feet. All 11th hour stuff.skeptic wrote:WCE's decision not to trade Brown was just plain bizarre... esp with the rumored deal on the table

Charlie Dixon is a power full forward. Period. And is going to be the next Coleman medalist out of Queensland. Write it down.

Thomas isn't a front runner. He runs both ways.

Re: Players to target at the end of the season
A key defender would be ideal - but failing that it's quality ball using mids we need.
