Doesn't it look a bit tall and slow then? Stanley, Fisher, Dempster, Roberton, Gwilt. Not many great options for a quick small like Jetta, although the Pies might not have many of them - I don't know their side well.SainterK wrote:Geary to midfield/forward...Gwilt backbergholt wrote:If a forward goes out and a defender comes in what does that do to our structure? Just hope we can have a better team balance.
Coll will be on the rampage and not looking to do us any favors.
Next three weeks arent looking to flash.
Great chance for the young blokes to show something against quality.

Need to persevere with Terry. He is a class act. Hope one of our coaches can sort out what ever his issues are. He could, and should be our next X factor.
INS: Terry, Milney, Siposs,
OUTS: Saad, Lee, TDL
Keep Kosi in and maybe Hickey For Ben if he is injured.
Don't drop Saunders or Murdoch.

They have lots of rotating mids...not sure if any of them stay down there all the time.bergholt wrote:Doesn't it look a bit tall and slow then? Stanley, Fisher, Dempster, Roberton, Gwilt. Dempster can play small, Wright also back there

B: geary fisher dempster
Hb:roberton Stanley gwilt (simpkin if gwilt still injured)
C: Hayes armitage nick dal santo
HF: siposs reiwoldt gilbert
F: saad lee Steven
Foll: mcevoy jones montagna
Int: hickey Ross newnes
Sub: Murdoch
IMO a blend of youth and experience, I hope watters just keeps showing faith in hickey, siposs lee and Stanley as the key positions.Theyre all over 20 so just cant afford to be playing vfl if we think there the answer...They take time but need games in them, consistent afl footy. If siposs isn't injured someone explain why he's been shunted so quickly? Of the young smalls Ross, newnes, saad need games, 2nd season, need to get them up to 20-30 games ASAP. Unless injured, I don't think ray or tell should get recalled. Sadly probably same for Blake and kosi. Anyone else getting worried about watters? Confusing selections, really bad team discipline, some worrying rabble type breakdown in structure, confusing messages to the media...keen to hear people's thoughts. Really hoping we can knock off the pies after last years robbing and a few years of heartache since the gfs

Milera is the type of player who will kick the freakish few goals in a GF, keep him in the team

He might cost a few as well. I agree he's worth persevering with but he's got to put his body on the line and learn to defendspert wrote:Milera is the type of player who will kick the freakish few goals in a GF, keep him in the team

Re: Saints v Pies - Friday night footy - Preview / Discussio
Not sure how TDL was picked ahead of Milera this week… at any rate, Terry has definitely forced his way back in after today's game.
Lee was underwhelming, but probably not helped by being subbed out early, I think he needs a decent run at it to try and work up a bit of confidence, a lot to be gained if he starts playing some good footy. 1 game in round 3, dropped, half a game in round 5…
Hickey will probably be given another chance you'd think, unlikely to have less impact than Kosi.
Saad seems out of touch, but I just think he needs to be persevered with, he'll be still learning from every match & he is the future.
I think Gwilt & Schneider will need to come back through the 2's…
Will Jones actually nullify anyone? He has been getting a bit of the footy, but just isn't damaging enough with the ball… his opponents seem to be still racking up the ball too.
Out : TDL, Kosi, Murdoch/Lee
In : Milera, Hickey, Dunnell/Siposs
We are still lacking capable forward targets, if Lee gets dropped we'll need a medium forward replacement
Don't like our chances to be honest… we are just very green at the moment and skill errors are holding us back from winning.

Is Newnes good enough to come straight back in? I reckon not at this point. I'd have him in the side ahead of Murdoch but not so far ahead that Murdoch deserves to be dropped.SainterK wrote:Gwilt and Newnes could also be available

Ah yes, dunnell seems a very good player, good build for a wingman. Why isn't he playing? Surely he's more advanced than the first years! And he's not young, he's already 23 I think taken as a mature Ager and very high draft choice so surely just needs games +++ otherwise why was he drafted? Please explain Scott watters

Dunnell is better than VFL standard, plays with a lot of poise and probably needs to be in the seniors, not sure his best position though. Apart from TDL going out and Milera in, I'm not sure what else would change..maybe Dunnell for Murdoch, White for NDS on a wing!

Be careful about bagging the umpires on here, I think p66 was a maggot when he was younger, before he hit the bottle and put on all that weight.
Anyway, Fat Eddie went off about that Tiger 'goal' which will just encourage the maggots to add to the luv they already give the Pies (Harry O, etc)
so I expect lots of blocking on Saad, Reiwoldt, etc from the start, lots of head-high against us, lots of dropping the ball.
Umps don't get paid much. In the USA, waiters make much more on their tips than their pitiful base wage.
I wonder how many umps pay for their weekly groceries with a black & white gift card?
The groceries are then loaded into the boot of a Lexus.

A real Sainter will pledge allegiance to the ❤ and despise the Pies, the Blues, and the Injectors.
