47 should've been used on a prospective backman. maybe the rookie that went to port adelaide that every phantom picker had in their top 30 - Colquhoun?joffaboy wrote:SaintPav wrote:TDL?joffaboy wrote:
cant find what happened to #47.
Think swapped somewhere for #48 and we picked up TDL. Not impressed so far with that pick.
#75 today in Pierce looks a handy type.

Looking at knightmare's phantom draft on bigfooty it looks like it's a midfielders draft. He has Nick Robertson (WA), Jack Billings (Vic) and Matt Crouch (Vic) as mids available around picks 6-8.
Following on from that Chris25 in the other phantom draft has Luke Dunstan (5) Dwayne Wilson (6) and Jack Billings (7) the first 2 mids, and a forward.

Pelchen wanted to get some guys in their 20s in to even up our list and make sure we weren't completely un competitive.
In my opinion we have achieved that goal and now we need to find some real young guns in the next 2 years.
Pick 6 sounds about right. Lets get the best kid we can find.
Ps
Agree that we will finish above demons and below port.
Port could be top 4 .
I think it more that as our pick was in the teens in a draft that flattened after about pick ten, that Pelchen saw little difference between it and a pick in the twenties....and so every difference in getting multiple picks for it. ie we doubled our value!
Pick 6 next year will be different as it is a lowish pick in a good draft...so an excellent chance to get another future star which we really need.
Pelchen will keep it unless he is offered something exceptional.
They will also be looking fora FA or two.

Re: Pick 6?
I can't see the sense in all this Jack Watts talk. Firstly dees would be very reluctant to letting go and they wil be asking at least a first round pick in return. Secondly just because he was #1 doesn't guarantee he will be a star, and thirdly lots of other clubs will be keen to try their luck with him so he won't come with a cheap pick.
Bottom line is no club is going to get him for a 2nd round pick and he is not a proven commodity. He will probably end up very similar to Travis Johnstone who was also a number 1 supposed to be a sure fire thing but never reached any great heights.
Leave him alone .

Re: Pick 6?
Nah. We'll definitely finish above GWS and Melbourne so there goes picks 1 and 2. To get pick 3 we'd have to finish below all of Footscray, Brissie and GC. Surely we're good enough to finish ahead of at least two of those three?stinger wrote:looking more like pick 3 or 4 to me.....

Re: Pick 6?
Is there any compensation draft picks added in from other teams due to Gold Coast / GWS.
