Brendon Goddard you star
StK means more to him in opposition than at least 12 players wearing the f***ing jumper!!!
He (like L Ball) are two StK champion people who unfortunately didn't want to be kept?
His raw emotion after the game, which was real is what I'd like to see from some pathetic current players who don't seem to care

Agreed, how do you let go Goddard and keep Dal Santo and Montagna???? Should've traded those two, as they are both significantly overrated and kept Goddard.

Re: Brendon Goddard you star
Anybody who criticises Goddard after that needs their head checked.
He loves this club, he loves these players. He's still a human being and I totally understand why he left. Really, given the offer, and not knowing what holds for life after footy, who wouldn't?
Maybe some of you have never been attached to a club or workplace to know the feeling. But for those who have, they know what it's like.
St Kilda through and through - BJ, I'm saluting you.

Agree 100% with the OP
Was an absolute p*ss poor performance from a club that cut it's teeth on giving there all for the last decade.
Today I saw players that looked like they were wearing a Melbourne jumper.
Disgraceful. Time for a shake up

Don't like reality
BJ champion
StK 2013 are a joke.... Got a counter argument.
Spiritless, listless, soft, gutless, lazy, undiscoplined, disorganised joke
2000 all over again.,,,,
Goddard, like Ball will cherish the deserved success.... But will always be a saint at heart
Both gave everything for the jumper
Interview was proof that he really didn't want to leave, but had no choice.... No man will knock back half a million, no one here would!!!!
It also showed the club was not fighting too hard to keep him!

Re: Brendon Goddard you star
Mate you're entitled to your opinion on Goddard but "maybe some of you have never been attached to a club... to know the feeling". I played footy for 20+ years and loved the two clubs I played at, wouldn't have walked to the opposition for more money. And if I did for some unfathomable reason I wouldn't sook next time I played my old club and beat them, him leaving was entirely driven by him and his management so good riddance. That was a cry for sympathy because he made a judas decision, nothing more...evertonfc wrote:Anybody who criticises Goddard after that needs their head checked.

Oops, perhaps I should have made it clearer. I was referring to those people who make a living from the game.Harvey To Hayes wrote:Mate you're entitled to your opinion on Goddard but "maybe some of you have never been attached to a club... to know the feeling". The rest of us who play for fun - well, yeah, I'd still have a beer with the opposition team after most games, so call me Judas. Not the life or death employment scenario, outside the elite IMO. It's just fun.

Idiot
Please don't compare yourself and local footy to career moves
Did you deal in Million dollar contracts???
He got the money he's entitled
Did we offer him what he was deserved???
I admire Ball and Goddard because they could turn their back on the Saints like others have. But they are above that!
Dumb supporters have little or no idea what it would be like to grow up working with your closest mates and then having to face them?
Btw
I play my old team tomorrow. No tears from me, because I'm not silly enough to suggest the gravity of the situation even compares

But if you did, I wouldn't begrudge you...because your emotions are up to you.
If our bogan-macho culture dictates that's wrong, let them cry in their VB stubbies.

The rest is a dig to rile up Saints fans.
We don't represent the footy department that let him go, email the club with your digs BM.
I agree that it was the wrong decision to let him go, but to try and get a rise out of saints fans who are disappointed and angry right now isn't the best avenue.
Re: Brendon Goddard you star
No, just being honest.
I see him as a saints champion who reluctantly left, and is finding it hard to deal with....
He gave StK and his team mates everything except a premiership, which he single hand idly almost did.
I always admired Ball and BJ and wish they never left..... His reaction suggests it wasn't as easy for him as plenty of dickheads on here believe.
Answer this hypothetical honestly
I'll give you 500 000 to your family if you support another club for 4 years
Yes/no

Re: Brendon Goddard you star
Honestly.
I don't think it would of come to him testing the FA market if Pelchen hadn't have flexed his muscles.
I've been consistent on this.
Even if you've no intention of giving the player what he wants, at least sit down and talk, ruffle his hair, tell him sweet nothings.
No, we went the whole 'no deal' which saw Goddard test the FA market, decided to play it out in the media rather than getting around a table.
The week prior to that, we still could of kept our man IMO without paying him what Dons have over 4 years. Frustrating
