Must have been well off the ball. Newnes just seemed disappear with about 3 minutes to go in the first quarter.
speaking of off the ball
did anyone else notice half through the second 1/4 roo's opponent doubled over on the far flank?
is he turning feral in his old age?

Bad, Bad luck. Hope he gets back soon. The more games he can play this year the better. He probably wouldn't have played the full year anyway so maybe his scheduled break has come a littler earlier than the coaches had planned.

GWS must have MAJOR concerns about this case. They have engaged David Galbally to help them fight it !!

NEW scarf signature (hopefully with correct spelling) will be here as soon as it arrives !!

How do they defend the indefensible?

Has always been a dog. Nice leadership by a 35 year old too. I'll find it amazing if they claim it's an accident? Like punching a fan in the crowd & a fan at the airport & all the other on field misdemeanours were "accidents" too.

i feel for newnes....

will be a big psychological hurdle for him, i'd say he will be pretty apprehensive about going in hard at the ball with plates in his jaw....

as for Brogan, i think that regardless of intent, it will be reckless rough conduct, high contact (clearly) and high impact (clearly) not really sure how it can be defended...

"he just started running at me, he had a reallly angry look in his eye, I shut my eyes and he slammed his jaw into my shoulder... i have a really big bruise now" great defence haha

Cost isn't an issue, the AFL fund them.

Great to see FOX were right acrosss this on Saturday.

Emma Quayle reporting for SEN was surprised at the amount of media at AFL house for Brogan's case

till she worked out the media units are staking out a variety of places to try and find Hirdy.

He said-- then he said - then he said
Brogan
newnes and trainer conflicting views- grainy vision would indicate raised elbow
AFL Tribunal‏@AFLTribunal
After the game, Lenny Hayes asked Brogan if he'd "hit one of our young blokes behind play". Brogan then apologised to Newnes after this.

Now we know what results concussions can have Brogan should be ruled out of footy forever. They suggest players should retire after receiving a single concussion after studies into brain damage. If off the ball running to the bench he should have an assault charge too. Really pathetic act from a guy twice the size as a young player and not even likely to be doing anything to deserve it.

i have no problem with accidental contact but that is just pathetic.

If he only gets a few weeks the AFL has dropped the ball yet again. They will bring in a new irrelevant law next season and pretend all is well. If it had been one of ours hitting someone like Cameron it would have been 30 weeks.
