Seriously. We are playing two teams tonight.
And another downfield.
And another downfield.

I think the neighbourhood will be knocking at my door asking me to quit the loud swearing...
Cannot believe that decision...that ump has no **** idea...

The free kick to J. Riewoldt was a game changer
Have you ever seen a softer free kick in a tight and tough contest
That umpire has stood on the mark a lot when Richmond have kicked at goal

4 free kicks to j riewoldt, 4 to cotchin 3 to king, nearly the whole total of frees to our team.
Disgrace.
oh yeah and may be lame to blame umpires but even lamer to not say something when it changes the game

Hard luck saints. Used up all in their tank.
Had the fixture and the umpiring against us, but fought it out.

The umpires are taking money on games they influence too many for coincidence. It will come out over the next few years for sure. Bizarre decisions one way so often.

Saw enough to be convinced we won't finish bottom 4
How many defenders will The Saints pick in the 2024 draft ?
Re: Match day thread Sainters vs Tigez
Armitage just had his head kicked off... Nothing
Vickery incidental contact kick a big goal
Interesting?
Some players from Richmond in umpires super coach teams
Cotchin, King... Must be in one umpires

Me too ... Was expecting to get thumped tonight but thought with a few breaks (umpires etc ) we could maybe have snatched this one ...bobmurray wrote:Saw enough to be convinced we won't finish bottom 4

Bobmurray;
Not saying you're wrong, but if we finish 11 or 12 and you are right is that good?
We're a proud team and that was a bloody gutsy effort...I don't rate the Tigers..saw them fade out last week and if we had a 7 day break we would have won

We will lose confidence if we keep losing and realisation sets in.
I am not so sure?
I had us 8-12
Now after pre season and 2
13-16

Re: Match day thread Sainters vs Tigez
Same old issues. Really, really poor with our skills and execution. We're probably not going to make the eight - in fact, almost certainly.
That's NOT pessimism. That's reality.
We're 0-2 and we lack in all the key metrics.
We're a "hanging" team - we'll challenge all the good teams this year, as we did last year, but due to distinct lack of proper quality, we'll have a really tough time getting near the eight. I just can't see us winning 13 of our next 20 games.
It's not a case of "throw in the towel". It's a case of how best do we use 2012 to advance the case for NEXT premiership. Everything else is white noise.
We need to have a ruthless approach towards getting more game time into our younger players and developing them.
Right now, I'm actually concerned we're in a toxic place. Our reliance on canny old players remains extremely high, and while they deliver good/average performances, it almost makes the development of younger players harder because we get "so close".
Close might feel good in the short term - but I do worry about where we're going to be in 2-4 years time. We already look both dreadfully slow and unskilled.

Reckon we have a shot at ninth again if we get a run on.
We're not in any need to tank yet but god almighty we need to win a close one!! Two seventeen point losses in a row this season.

We were actually ok and it's the kids leading improvement. Stanley grew bigger by the quarter, Armo and steven are going to be guns, Milera was showing some very exciting ability, saad picked up, Newnes did enough to see the future.
Gilbert and jones showed why they are in the team.
Schnides is still a beauty especially as a sub.
Dempster and Fisher looked rusty but did well
Lenny and Milney didn't have their best games but tried hard.
Joey went quiet.

At least 2 obvious throws in Richmonds backline for no frees.

Re: Match day thread Sainters vs Tigez
Good effort from the Saints tonight!!
On the plus side
Newnes - showed a bit, but needs to make sure of his disposal. Still not adjusted to the tempo
Stanley - looks a lot better down back, some goods marks and spoils in the 2nd half
Shneider - brought back into the game when dubbed on, disposal and decision making was fantastic. 13 disposals
McEvoy - great game, his work around the ground was fantastic.
Roo - Much better tonight
Monty- good to have him back
Roberton - did his job again tonight, provided run early and then locked down on McGuane
Negatives:
Milne - 2nd ordinary game from Nilney, might find himself back with Kosi
Dal - needs to lift
Watters - needed to a bit more proactive and not so reactive
And the f****** umpiring was DISGRACEFUL, I counted 7 goals gifted to the Tigers by s*** decision!!!
