Simpkin in if we want to release Dempster into a midfield tagging role. Gwilt to provide run with Siposs, Roberton & Geary. Close between Jones and Gilbert, Jones might be of more value this week in tagging than Gilbert. Carlton were exposed against 3 tall forwards last week.
Would like to see Hickey a bit more in the ruck in the first 3 quarters So we have a more fresh Big Mac in the final quarter when we sub Hickey.

Joey has to be a certain inclusion – Newnes makes way as he’s just too soft and doesn’t look up to it yet
Dempster by reports should be fit to play, replacing Stanley’s position who did well down back but I really think we need another tall option up forward given both Roo and Maister spend time up the ground, effectively Stanley replaces Dennis-Lane who did nothing.
Schneider if fit must play – we need his skills – particularly by foot as we are severely lacking. I think another small forward needs to make way, leaving Milera who was soft but kicked 3, Saad to make way, couldn’t see them dropping Milne.
Simpkin is a tough one – not sure if he’ll be right to play but I highly rate him, leaving Ray out who I thought was woeful unfortunately as I really would like Ray to cement a spot.
I just couldn’t bring myself to include Koz and have given Hickey another chance for redemption. On paper the side looks okay, fingers crossed Fisher comes up which I doubt – if so Roberton or Blake to make way.
4 outs is also a lot of changes but I think they are necessary plus 4 fresh pairs of legs will do no harm after a short break.

Re: guess this weeks ins and outs
I can't believe nearly everyone wants Stanley to move forward? He played probably his best game for the Saints against GC playing down back and now you think he should go forward!
Our forward line will be fine if we improve the delivery to them! The positive with Maister is he got his hands to a lot of footy last week and when playing in non humid conditions he will improve markedly. Roo only had 1/2 a practice game before GC so he will improve. Perhaps we should play Lee or Kosi this week to give us a third tall as All the small forwards were poor last week. We had too many one position small forwards we need players who can rotate thru the middle.
Schneider should return for Saad simply because he can play thru the middle, Dempster to replace Roberton, Fisher to replace Blake & move Saad to sub position replacing TDL. The other player who had a shocker was Ray and we may include Wright in his place but I think Farren deserves another game to get himself going - he did have a solid preseason!
Saad is to ultimately replace Milne but until Milne retires we can't afford to two so similar player. Saad needs to develop some midfield capacity IMO!

Re: guess this weeks ins and outs
Ideally I’d like to play Stanley as a forward but pushing up the ground instead of Roo and Maister. The only problem with this is Stanley’s injury concerns and making him run up the wings may just push him a little too much. Maister can at least take a contested mark which we really missed last week, though I will agree the delivery was very average – what concerned me most about this though is that with such poor delivery, you think our smalls would have excelled, yet they didn’t seem to have anyone bringing the ball down to them which is what Maister and Stanley would be handy for.
I still think Roo is most dangerous up forward as he demands a lot of attention from defenders and having another tall option (Maister/Stanley) catches our opposition off guard a little bit. I really think Roo and Maister need to remain permanent forwards because 1. Maister is a strong mark and will always contend and bring the ball down 2. Maister is generally an accurate kick for goal. 3. Roo wastes so much energy running up the ground which I believe contributes to his inaccruarcy in front of goal. 4. He puts a lot more pressure on the opposition if he is playing as a forward, and I think if we were a bit smarter with our entries into the forward line and not bombing it to Roo all the time – with Roo there though he draws 2 defenders so as I said – its about being smarter. Plus, if we could actually hit Roo on the chest he might have been an asset on the wing, but so many times it is delivered to his feet or over his head and the opposition run away with it. I actually would have liked to have seen Siposs on a wing because if he can get his hands on it there it puts us in a fabourable, attacking and dangerous position with his long and accurate kick inside 50.
That’s my take however in saying all this, it was promising to see Stanley play well down back and it is nice to know we have this option, I just don’t know if we need him there when Simpkin, Fisher and Dempster return.

HF: Saad, Riewoldt, Siposs

R: McEvoy, Armitage, Jones
IC: Steven, Milera, Newnes, Gilbert
Basically like-for-like replacements. If Schneider was to come in for Newnes or Milera, or Blake stay in ahead of Simpkin, that would be a sign of panic for mine - going with the oldies and losing faith in the kids.
Matchups:
Jones on Cotchin
Stanley on Vickery
Simpkin on Riewoldt
Gwilt/Dempster/Roberton on Maric/McGuane
Geary on King
Griffiths will go to Riewoldt
Chaplin will go to Maister
Morris will go to Milne
Jackson will go to Dal Santo?

Re: guess this weeks ins and outs
Agreed. The kid's already got confidence issues, throwing him around the park isn't going to help on that front.WinnersOnly wrote:I can't believe nearly everyone wants Stanley to move forward?
