Their sub has 13 possessions.
Our sub has NONE!
WTF?!?!?

What you expect from player who averages about 5 touches per game. Poor choice of sub.

It's not nonsense. You need to kick more than your opposition to win.

Re: TDL and Saad OUT!!'
Saad was fine, he'll be back next week. TDL...I'm surprised he made an appearance at all this year. Anyway, you'd drop 2 small forwards for next week? Richmond has a good defense, but the Blues 'mosquito fleet' reeled them in last week...it'd be a crazy decision unless (an underdone) Schnieder was back.
Re: TDL and Saad OUT!!'
TDL, Gilbert, Hickey, Blake to go
Schneider, Fisher, Dempster, Simpkin, Kosi, Monty need to come in.
No forward line structure at all tonight, Wilkes can't take an overhead grab, its so frustrating. Roo doesn't lead enough and mark, just sits and waits under it only to have it spoiled.
Midfield was s*** house, the only one that can do anything is Armo, I'm sorry but thats how it really was tonight. Lenny and Dal were very average, Jack not that much better.

Saad showed some chase, run and attack on the ball that plenty of others didnt.fugazi wrote:I thought Saad actually showed some desperation and chase tonight...not in our worst 5 tonight
Malera annoyed me today as he seemed to move away from the ball on a least 3 occasions (almost like he was scared to meet the contest. Players ran around him as his momentum carried him away from the contest. Not top 22 in my opinion on tonite's performance.
Milne did some good things but he needs to settle sometimes befre shooting at goal. He reminded me of the 2009 Grand Final but was as involved tonite.
Ablett has good judgement but he is made to look even better when we fumble the ball every time he is close by. I wish players would concentrate on the simple things like taking marks and collecting the ball on ground rather than worry what's next. It shows how easy poor decision making can hurt you when players like Ablett take advantage. The poo decisions keep occurring after the ball is lost but gicing away frees in front o goal. Gold Coast got plent of easy goals from this.
We need some height down back but our biggest problem is clearances not made from a strong tap ruckman. Looked like Fremantle several years ago when every midfield fed off Sandilands.
Our midfield depth is very short and this needs correction as our guys seem to play defence from the start and dont deliver well to forwards from running the lines.
Midfield clearances and clear winners are needed to make an effective forward line.
You need to protect the ball handler to increase posession efficiency

Agree TDL out
But our problem is we are trying to play to many of the same sort of players Saad, Milera, Milne and TDL.
They just keep getting in each others way

Re: TDL and Saad OUT!!'
Saad had more dreamteam points than 2 players at half time. They were the 2 subs. Fact. Then he quietened off in the second half.saintspremiers wrote:But he's there to score goals also.Sainternist wrote:By no means our worst. Re: TDL and Saad OUT!!'
I actually thought our forward line functioned quite well tonight, we had more scoring shots and kicked a crapload of points. Our defence looked poor like last year, but the biggest shock was in the midfield, where we were bent over and spanked. That's where the game was lost, make no mistake. A game of football is always won and lost in the middle, tonight no different.

Re: TDL and Saad OUT!!'
Saad had a crack, but yes, conditions how they were tonight our small forwards should've been swooping on all the loose balls.

Re: TDL and Saad OUT!!'
Wouldn't take Terry's 'side stepping' of tackles any week!
He never did that last year.... Why did he not apply pressure?
Saad was horrendous.... Try picking the ball up, you're 174cm not 200!
