Saints V tigers
After there win v carlton , do we have any chance ?
I was kind of glad the way the match panned out , they've been playing good footy in the pre-season so hopefully they will be a flat next week .
whilst the win will lift them , i think if they lost they would be even more determined against us !
We will have to be at our best as were playing at their home ground
although the club should make money as at least 40K of there fans will turn up !
If the weathers good the crowd could be 65K + .

Let's worry about beating GC first. It's no certainty.

They're from CHO-KER Land.
A bunch of chokers they're from cho-ker land.
In any weather you will see them with a grin.
Choking from within.
If they're in front they'll play like @#nts
And choke and choke until ...
Led by 42 points.
Very very very lucky in the end to scrape in with a win.
9 times out of 10 Yarran would have kicked that goal.
Our boys will know even if we are a few goals behind in the last qtr we are every chance to run over them as they choke.
All in all a great game.
The Caaaarlton scum under Shytehouse lost - tick
And Richmond still comically showed they have the wobbles - tick

Good team. Carlton's small forwards seemed to have an impact, which we can emulate.
Not sure how we'll cover both Riewoldt and Vickery.
Anyway, one week at a time.

Re: Saints V tigers
4 quarter pressure will be the key to winning us the game as the Tiges while improved still are vunerable to not playing hard enough over four quarters.
We badly want Fisher back though as the Tiges have Roo2 and Vickery, and a quality midfield to feed them. The Blues suffered from having rucks playing as key forwards. Our key forwards are much better than the Blues.
The Tiges midfield has a lot of quality. So Hickey's debut this week will be interesting, and a good game may see him being used in tandem with Ben to combat "Mulletman" to prevent him giving his midfield the edge.

Hopefully they crash a little after being up for that one....
I had to laugh when Hardwick said the boys have learned how to hold on and play those tight matches out, Yarran kicks that one....
Go Saints!

Good point re our forward line - specifically tall forwards.
That is one area where we are far superior to Carlton.
Hampson presented well, but made no impact at all on the scoreboard. But it did prove that Richmond were stretched when Hampson and Kreuzer were lurking at the same time. Bodes well for Riewoldt, Maister, McEvoy and Hickey.

Re: Saints V tigers
It's great they won, but means their supporters will outnumber ours 2:1 even though it's our home game.
Big stage, Friday night at the G.
If we beat GC, there may be close 50,000 in attendance if the weather is absolutely perfect.
Shitty weather night tonight and the bastards get 80K.
We would've got 55K vs Carlscum at best had it been us playing tonight

Re: Saints V tigers
Whilst Richmond will be happy with the win, they would have lost some confidence following that last quarter
that game was in the bag with all the momentum... to be kept goaless in the last 1/4 with the knowledge that another 5min and Carlton had them IMO reduces them from a confident team on the roll back to a potentially good team with something to prove
me thinks it will be an early season indication of things to come

Re: Saints V tigers
Same old same old week one. Richmond kick away to a match winning lead. Choke. Luckily this time Yarran choked as well.

Sums it up pretty well.desertsaint wrote:Same old same old week one. Richmond kick away to a match winning lead. Choke. Luckily this time Yarran choked as well.
I hope we don't take them on in an old fashioned shoot out though, reckon we'd lose.
Tonight Richmond were excellent in marking opposition kicks, so let's hope we're not so bomby under pressure.
Anyways I digress, the boys need to win Saturday first.

Re: Saints V tigers
They've been the AFL's most overrated team since 2008 and they let the media hype get to their head eachs and every time.
Their midfield's pace runs rings around ours, that's the first hurdle. Secondly, Jumping Jack ALWAYS kicks a bag against us. Somehow, we need to keep him on a leash.
Otherwise, they're show ponies.

Re: Saints V tigers
We will need Fisher and Montagna back. Would like Dempster as well, but the hammy will keep him out.
Richmond looked full of spirit in the rooms after the match, as you would expect. They will be up for a 2/2 against the Saints.
Let's see how we go against the Suns first.

Re: Saints V tigers
Get over the suns first (won't be a walk in the park) then get the recovery right.....6 day break for us against 8 for the tiges. Don't know if it makes much difference at this time of the year though.

Well at least Joey can come in fresh and he has been in very good form in the pre-season.PLUGGER14 wrote:Get over the suns first (won't be a walk in the park) then get the recovery right.....6 day break for us against 8 for the tiges. I very, very. much want Fisher to be playing too to take on Roo2 or Vickery.
That the Blues could not handle Vickery probably was the the difference between them winning and losing.

Re: Saints V tigers
Watched this game with the volume off ( god, it's wonderful), while working on my new script on the computer.
If we can't beat either of these teams, we might as well pack it in now for the season.
