That's like the old "RSL Club" mentality between the wars - no new members allowed so they gradually drop off until another war brings a new batch in.
OPEN the forum up.
Get rid of the d**khead posters.
The rest of Australia can wander mask-free, socialise, eat out, no curfews, no zoning, no police rings of steel, no illogical inconsistent rules.
They can even WATCH LIVE FOOTY!

This pre season has been a real creeper. We have had nothing to talk about.
All that spare time makes the trolls and serial asshats that lurk here come out and play.
Couple of wins will get the place smokin' again. A couple of losses will have the place imploding.

I'm offended- I prefer the politically correct term "endurance posting buttock headwear like person of a non specific gender" than serial arsehat.

832 views in one day isn't a sign if a forum that's dying. Just a matter of encouraging viewers to post. Some of the put downs from posters on here doesn't help encourage the viewers to post IMO.
Matter of just being more positive, welcoming new posters and not being a friggen grump all the time.

have also suggested in the past, a public sin bin - but without mods that enforce the rules - then there aint no sin bin

Also, we aren't really tilting at a premiership, and really we'll be lucky to play finals....that is bound to have an effect. I reckon the Bulldogsa forum will have dropped its activity level too. People will put up with the hijacking BS when we're up there and winning...human nature
Its been going like this for a year or two. I really noticed it over last years trade period. SS has turned soap opera. I go to BF for interesting footy discussion. It would be nice for it to go back to how it was, but I ain't holding my breath. Pretty obvious plenty of others feel the same way as I see quite few other SS regulars over there too.

A few days before our first game and virtually no activity on the board. Saintsational is not the buzzing, thriving forum it was.
Activity in terms of creating new threads and commenting on threads looks to have dropped off compared to previous years. If this keeps up the Forum will, if it has not already, spriral down to be just a ghost forum of about 3 people slanging one another.
Do you care?

Is anything, to be done about it? What can be done about it?
What are the reasons?
What are the problems?

IMO some big current problems are:
* Virtually no moderation which means that some posters are allowed to endlessly trash threads (yes we all get worked up from time to time and write things best not, but there are some that way overdo it in thread after thread after thread) and that threads are allowed to go off tangent etc (unlike other forums).
* Closed forum which while keeping trollsters out may also be keeping out the fresh blood that any forum needs.
A lot of threads get hijacked by the same "look at me merchants"....They end up having nothing to do with football and more to do with "my ego is bigger than yours" type bullshite
How many defenders will The Saints pick in the 2024 draft ?
Not a regular poster but read just about every day for a long time now and imo the forum should be opened up to allow the unregistered to read but have to register to post, that's how I started.
Also, it may not be a popular opinion but mine is that P66 is as much a part of the forum as thongs in summer. Most of us are mature enough to cut through the crap and see the houmor in it.
Always crack up at the docs posts, always hits a thread at just the right time to keep it entertaining.
