Was BJ that much of an outside player with us? Effort under a high ball in the first quarter running back with the flight made him look slow or even worse, just not willing to put his body on the line? It definitely looked like he was told to play an outside role possibly for his ball use?

He was worth the money just to make guys like Heath Hocking look quality in comparison.

Essendon played well, Adelaide are going poorly, BJ was only fair, It was only one game, he has played like that with us, it is round one and he wasnt worth keeping at that price for so many years. He will be a very good player for them.

I'm not so sure he fits well. They are a frenetic team and don't play to his strengths. He looked mentally rushed and out of his comfort zone. He was allowed time to spot up best options at the Saints, rushing seemed to destroy his best asset- his precision. I actually worry for him that he might be in their bottom 10 players most weeks. He won't play mid field either based on that game- he isn't going to add anything they don't already have there.

Roberton and Hickey don't come as the most high profile recruit the club has ever had. Both are guys just about to hit an upward curve after getting a bank of games in a development phase. If they were 27 and came at $600000 per year they would be measured by the week.

If Lenny or Milney have bad games there will be people calling them out as they are expected to set a level of performance that we have come to expect. Goddard might come good but there were some very concerning signs for me. The Dons will be worried if his performance doesn't improve even if they keep winning, he could cost them one of their up and comers because he is strangling their cap.

If he doesn't get better and they lose someone like Bellchambers they will turn him into the next Brent Stanton- their cheer squad will spit at him.

Pretty sure the Dons will care how BJ is going regardless of whether they are winning or losing. They have invested plenty to get him and will expect more from him than what he showed last night. Yes it's only one game, but it's on top of 2 seasons of OK performances. He is the highest payed player at Essendon. Pressure is on BJ. Silly comment to suggest the club won't care how he is going IMO. But you can't be right 100% of the time Plugger.

Determining his worth at Essendon after one game at Football Park is comical. Wasn't one of his better grounds for us.

Free wheeling under the roof is his strength, and he'll play some big blockbuster games at the G,some good, some average.
